We stayed in the Venetian room at the Woods Inn Aug.15 - 17, 2007 and had a fantastic time. The room which was huge, very clean, plenty of thick towels and even 2 bathrobes to use. Close to everything in town and would recommend staying at the Woods Inn. Can't wait to come again.

As we all know... there are different types of travelers. You have travelers that are used to 5 star hotels and there are travelers that sleep on friend's couches. We'll the woods inn is somewhere in between. What you would miss if you didn't stay here is a charm and a sense of the mountains that is lost when you stay at a corporate hotel. The rooms are decorated with random art pieces that are mounted to the wall and which tie into a theme for each room. The views from the hotel are a mixture of historic buildings and the 10 mile range. Breathtaking.

Unlike many of the reviews, I found the rooms to be clean and the linens and towels to be high end. Would I eat off the shower floor, probably not, yet I don't remember there being any glaring mold or mildew stains. There was also plenty of hot water.

From the time we arrived, the entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You will find allot of times in resort towns an indifference to visitors, especially in April after a full season, yet we found none of this at all with the staff at the Woods. One resounding statement echoed with every conversation we heard. "Make yourself at home" it is definitely their motto.

Pros:
Friendly Staff
2 Blocks from Main Street Bars/Restaurants
No traffic. Very Quiet, yet close to everything
New and clean Gas Bar B-Ques (A Big Savings)
An Ideal location in the middle of Summit County
An incredible unspoiled view.
A Clean and functional hotub again with beautiful views
The best made to order breakfast in Frisco for only $5
Beautiful rooms with clean linens

Cons:
Dogs are always present (Welcome to the mountains). There were dogs that walked around the breakfast table.

Great rooms, Breakfast, hot tub, Grills. Don't expect more

Main area in lodge seems to be occupied by The Owners, their family, and staff. It felt awkward to walk in there. Almost like you were inviting yourself into someone’s house.

Bottom line: If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay for around $100. This is it! If your used to a spa and room service. Spend $300 a night and head towards Vail. We found many couples who had been coming to the Woods for years and I can't wait until I can make it back myself.

We booked the Argentine Room at Woods Inn after having stumbled upon it on a previous trip to Frisco. It is such a charming place! Our room didn't feel anything like a hotel room - I felt more like I was in my best friend's guest room. The decor was decidely non-hotel like and they brought us tons of bath towels. A little fountain burbled pleasantly just outside our window. In the evening, it was chilly and a fire was lit in the chimenea on the patio. We sat out and enjoyed the fire in the most wonderful rocking chairs. The gardens were lovely to stroll through and the staff was very pleasant and friendly. It is off the main street so you don't get all of the noise, but it is close enough to walk. We woke up very early, so did not take advantage of their "All you can eat for $5" breakfast, but it sounded great - eggs, blueberry pancakes, the works. If we go back to the area, we will definitely stay again - one night just wasn't enough to savor all of the charms of this little inn.

“Not as Nice as the Website!”

The Woods Inn

Spent three nights in Sep 05. Website looked great. Neither sink nor tub drain worked, and the owner did not fix it. There was A LOT of mostly minor deferred maintenance which gave the place a very worn look. Breakfast was good for the price ($5), but you share a table w/bench seating. Residents of the low-rent apartments next door availed themselves of the patio on some evenings, riding their bikes down the hotel walkways and off the stairs (these were adults). Perhaps not bad for the price/location, but we definitely wont be returning.
