“Mixed Reviews... Read this!”
As we all know... there are different types of travelers. You have travelers that are used to 5 star hotels and there are travelers that sleep on friend's couches. We'll the woods inn is somewhere in between. What you would miss if you didn't stay here is a charm and a sense of the mountains that is lost when you stay at a corporate hotel. The rooms are decorated with random art pieces that are mounted to the wall and which tie into a theme for each room. The views from the hotel are a mixture of historic buildings and the 10 mile range. Breathtaking.
Unlike many of the reviews, I found the rooms to be clean and the linens and towels to be high end. Would I eat off the shower floor, probably not, yet I don't remember there being any glaring mold or mildew stains. There was also plenty of hot water.
From the time we arrived, the entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You will find allot of times in resort towns an indifference to visitors, especially in April after a full season, yet we found none of this at all with the staff at the Woods. One resounding statement echoed with every conversation we heard. "Make yourself at home" it is definitely their motto.
Pros:
Friendly Staff
2 Blocks from Main Street Bars/Restaurants
No traffic. Very Quiet, yet close to everything
New and clean Gas Bar B-Ques (A Big Savings)
An Ideal location in the middle of Summit County
An incredible unspoiled view.
A Clean and functional hotub again with beautiful views
The best made to order breakfast in Frisco for only $5
Beautiful rooms with clean linens
Cons:
Dogs are always present (Welcome to the mountains). There were dogs that walked around the breakfast table.
Great rooms, Breakfast, hot tub, Grills. Don't expect more
Main area in lodge seems to be occupied by The Owners, their family, and staff. It felt awkward to walk in there. Almost like you were inviting yourself into someone’s house.
Bottom line: If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay for around $100. This is it! If your used to a spa and room service. Spend $300 a night and head towards Vail. We found many couples who had been coming to the Woods for years and I can't wait until I can make it back myself.
