“Avery history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

1879 was an exciting time in the USA and Fort Collins, and Franklin Avery and his home here in Fort Collins was right in the middle of the excitement and growth of the West. Great architectural details, good docents to lend a flair to the telling, a fun way to learn history and get a glimpse of life at the turn of the century.

“Pretty Cool”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

This is a very cool little house. You can see lots of very old things and the guides are very well informed. The thing that bothered me was that the guides kept yelling at people for brushing up against chairs and stuff, exclaiming they were old. The house was cool, but the guides were a bit dramatic about touching.

“Interesting History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

The docent, Eric, was a gem of information. While photos of the interior of the house are not permitted (seems some folks take pictures so they can come back later and steal the items), he was gracious enough to allow us photos of architectural elements. Fascinating history to the house, and great workmanship. Personal guided tour is a must!

“A great house museum in Northern Colorado”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Volunteers do a stellar job offering tours at the historic Avery House. The house is really a fairy-tale (modest) mansion in Old Town and has been lovingly restored.

Visit the Avery house and step back into Ft. Collins history. The volunteers and guides who work there are very good.
