“A good choice for dining after hiking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

My wife and I selected this restaurant in Bergen Park after hiking the Chief Mountain trail, based on online reviews. The Whipple Tree Margarita is very good. The salsa is homemade (OK, but not very spicy)--add some guacamole for zest. The Mexican burger is served on a flour tortilla; the burger taste is overwhelmed by the sauces. The burger plate does fill you up. The jalapeños were quite mild in taste. My wife enjoyed her bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Dine on the spacious outdoor patio if the weather is nice.

“Too much smoke”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Having been a patron of the Whippletree since it's inception it was sad to see a 35 year old institution turned on it's head. While some change is always good to wipe the slate clean and californicate the menu was not necessary.
So much 'charred, smoked' that it is off-putting.
I think there should be a nod to the things that came before.

“Not the same ol' restaurant - Cowboy Prime Rib Special is FANTASTIC!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

We went to Whippletree on Saturday night to try the new Cowboy Prime Rib Special. It is a 12-oz piece of prime rib, with an onion-bacon marmalade, grilled roasted chili corn-on-the-cob and garlic mashed potatoes for $22. It was FANTASTIC!! We used to have favorites from the old menu and they are history... but I am beginning to warm up to the idea of the new Whippletree! Still not sure what I would order on the regular menu but I was extremely pleased with the Saturday night special! Still not quite as good (or inexpensive) as the prime rib at Texas Roadhouse, but it was by far the best prime rib I've had up the hill!

“Love the new menu!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

The new menu is great! We had the ceviche, carne asada fajitas, and an ala carte chili relleno. All were delicious. I especially loved the new preparation of the chili relleno. Best around – and transformed from gloppy to gourmet. Our server was Rachelle, and she was pretty awesome. The runner at first brought out a cold chili relleno, but cheerfully and quickly brought me out another one, hot this time. It was a beautiful evening to eat outside, and the Whip has one of the best patios in Evergreen.

“scared of change”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

I had eaten at the Whipple tree years ago and had forgot what a great restaurant it was, but when i recently went back i was shocked to find a new menu why cant people leave things alone. Why because the new menu is amazing there smoked meats in there burritos will blow you away. Been there twice in the last month first the smoked chicken chimi and then the smoked prime rib rap amazing. If the rap was that good with the left overs from the prime rib dinner i have to go back for the prime rib
