I stayed at Cordillera over spring break at the end of March, while the lodge was offering a $96/night special. My experience was superb -- from the moment we arrived, the staff was amazingly helpful. The concierge explained all of the lodges' ammenities upon arrival, a problem with the bathroom in our room was fixed immediately, the valets spent an hour jumping my SUV two snowy mornings after our arrival and recommended an inexpensive Wal-Mart fix for my vehicle without seeming put out at all.
The room was beautiful with a gorgeous view of the Avon/Vail Valley. We soaked in the outdoor hot tub and heated pool every night as the snow fell, then feasted at the in-house restaurant. (It should be noted that an equally attractive menu was available at the nordic center restaurant, which could be accompanied by a sleigh ride, but we were too lazy to leave the comfort of the lodge.)
My brother and I spent a day snowboarding at Beaver Creek. As a relative beginner (mastered blues, but not comfortable on blacks), I loved the runs at Beaver Creek. My brother wasn't as thrilled -- he prefers the longer runs at Copper. But, we both loved the mountain-side facilities of Cordillera -- complimentary shuttle service to the slopeside club with a lift just feet from the door, complimentary breakfast and lunch, water and a soft drinks, and plenty of games/internet/TV to occupy members of your party who aren't avid skiers/riders.
Again, I can't say enough about the quality of the staff at Cordillera. Everyone we met was extremely accommodating. We don't have a lot of money to spend vacationing every year, but this experience made us feel part of the good life. :)
