My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights after I found an off-season deal through TravelZoo. The hotel was VERY quiet because ski season had ended two weeks prior to our trip and summer travel had not yet started. We saw only 4-5 other groups (one family, mostly couples) during our entire stay. The staff were very attentive and provided great information about local places that were still open. The restaurant and spa on property were running off-season discounts, and the service was fantastic at both.

We had a fireplace room with a balcony and view of the mountains, and were very comfortable. Two armchairs, double sinks in the bathroom, big closet, bathrobes, seating on the balcony. The only thing I wished for was an ottoman to use with the armchairs! We brought our laptop and there was complimentary wireless internet access, which was helpful when trying to determine what restaurants to try off-site. A previous reviewer mentioned that the bathroom was outdated, but ours was very modern. I did question the paintings of Tuscany in the bathroom, which seemed a silly decorating decision. I do agree with the person who noted that getting to your room from the lobby can be quite circuitous.

The hotel is up on a mountain in a gated community, and it took us about 10 min. to drive to the main roads, which may be discouraging to people who want to stay in the middle of things. It also may be worth noting that we saw plenty of wildlife, so you should be careful when driving to/from the property!

We were not able to take advantage of many local attractions because of the timing of our visit, but were glad for the chance to relax and also pleased that the discounts made our trip cheaper than expected.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Cordillera and can report that our stay was amazing in every respect. My wife and I booked the trip as a short getaway from our small kids at home. I came to ski while she wanted to relax at the spa, use the hotel's nordic facility for snowshoeing and just enjoy the mountains. We were not disappointed. We were given a room facing the mountains with a gas fireplace that really heated the room up nicely. We arrived at night and left the drapes open and in the morning we were greeted by the sun peaking over the Rockies in the full length windows which led out to the balcony. An earlier reviewer complained about the lack of flat screens or dvd players but that was not why we came to the mountains (I was happy not to touch the television during our entire stay). The bed and bedding were very comfortable, the bathroom more than adequate. The lobby was beautiful with great Starbucks and granola out early in the morning for the skiers and a piano player and roaring fire at night. The spa was incredible: one of the best deep tissue massages of my life after three intense days of skiing. My wife had some hair treatment, a pedicure and did daily yoga and pilates which she reported were exceptional. The outdoor hot tub and heated pool were usually empty (except on Saturday) and were the perfect temperature. We only ate at the hotel one night and opted to have burgers/salads/drinks by the fire in the lobby (ordering from the casual menu) rather than eating in the more formal dining room. The staff was superb and gracious, always enthusiastic. And now a word about skiing: the shuttles to Beaver Creek and Vail were flawless, leaving at 8:00 am and returning at 4:00 pm. They transported us directly to the Lodge's private ski club at Beaver Creek or to the Cordillera Club at Vail (which was superior to the Beaver Creek facility in every respect with full breakfast, lunch and apres drinks and snacks gratis). The Beaver Creek club only provided muffins and soup and you paid for beer but was staffed by extremely kind and knowledgeable folks. It was like the best of both worlds: the shuttle transporting you directly to your own ski-in facility far away from the noise and crowds of Vail and Beaver Creek. My only complaint (a very small one) was that we encountered some pretty snooty folks who were owners of houses in the vicinity of the hotel at the ski clubs and in the spa but I guess that's to be expected in the Vail Valley. That was more than offset by all of the nice people we met vacationing at the Lodge and the kind hotel staff. In sum, if you want seclusion but with easy access to Vail and Beaver Creek, Cordillera is the perfect choice.

Everything was perfect! We stayed at Lodge at Cordillera from Dec 21 – 23. The Room was exactly as featured on their website. If you want a romantic setting away from crowds, this is the place for you. The service was first class and not pretentious or arrogant. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the bellman and valet, our bags were whisked to our room and our vehicle was parked. We were upgraded to room 354, a cozy room with a gas fireplace and fabulous views from the balcony. We rented skis and the ski rental company came to our room for fittings. The hotel stored our rented ski equipment. We never touched the skis until we were headed to the slopes. Not having to fumble with poles, boots, and skis was definitely a relief and the price of the rental equipment and fitting for 2 was far less than the cost of one lift ticket.
We took the free shuttle to the private ski-in/ski-out Club at Beaver Creek. The concierge took our skis from the shuttle and stored them in the club locker room until we were ready to hit the slopes. The Strawberry chairlifts are 100 feet from the locker room! With the private lodge so close it was easy to take a break from the slopes and relax. They even provided free hot soup, cookies, hot and cold drinks, and fruit.
We also reserved a private sleigh ride with dinner at the Timber Hearth Grille both were magnificent and worth experiencing at least once. If you want a reasonable priced dinner, great food and a nice atmosphere (Irish style pub), you MUST try the Grouse on the Green. It’s less that a 10-minute walk downhill from the Lodge at Cordillera. We can’t wait to go back to the Lodge at Cordillera, they really pamper their guest!

For the price, this hotel is just a little disappointing. It was recently upgraded, but there are still bits and pieces that feel outdated.

Pros: great beds and bedding, fantastic restaurant, nice spa.

Cons: showers are really outdated, unattractive hallways.

Perhaps the best thing about the Lodge is its breathtaking setting. Everything else is pretty mediocre. We upgraded to a mountain-view room, and though the view was amazing the room was worn. We actually had a princess telephone—something I hadn’t seen since the 1960s, and of course, it had no buttons directing the caller to various hotel departments. Not only was the phone outdated, but there was no flat screen TV, no DVD or CD player or other amenities one would expect at this level. We requested a DVD player, and it played out a bit like Fawlty Towers. Hotel personnel spent two days searching rooms to find a DVD player with a remote that worked. It’s about a 10- to 15-minute ride into Edwards, the closest town, and from Edwards another 15-minute drive to Vail (with no traffic). One evening we didn’t feel like making a long drive for dinner, so we ate in the hotel restaurant. The food was satisfactory but nothing special. Which may sum up our general feeling—other than its stunning mountaintop location, the Lodge is run of the mill.
