“Week in the mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This place is the best week long vacation that we have ever had. The views of the Cordillera property are just amazing. The room in the newer section that we had with a balcony was just as advertised on their website. Housekeeping services were spotless. They do need to upgrade the TV to a flat screen.

The free parking and valet service was a nice touch to the stay. It was almost instant once the front desk was called.

The people at this resort were ALL friendly, helpful and eager to help. The services provided by the resort for fishing, golf, hiking, etc., etc. were top notch.

Finally the food in the Mirador restaurant at breakfast were fresh and with the outside balcony view were terrific. The dinner that we had was the best restaurant meal that I have had in I don't know when. Try the beef tenderloin with scalloped potatoes and asparagus for a real treat.

I don't know what I would change with our stay. The location is perfect for day travel to Vail, Avon, Beaver Creek to the east and Glenwood Springs and Aspen to the west.

Try this place for the best views in CO and a truly relaxing vacation.

Rustic and rich hotel just past Beaver Creek. Nice room with huge balcony, over looking miles and miles of mountains. Secluded and away from the city. Great pool and hot tub. Quiet and well maintained. Restaurant had the perfect selection of breakfast items, with an outdoor dining area that was just delightful. Keurigs in the room are the touch that will keep us coming back.

This property is located in the mountains away from the hussle/bussle of the city. If you're looking for a getaway, then this is the place. Keep in mind it is an older property and needs some updating. The GM said they were new a Pyramid property and expected to upgrade the TVs soon to flatscreens. He also thought that the carpets in the common areas as well as the room furniture would be changed out.
The rooms are noisey, the spa dry sauna didn't work, the bathroom doorknob was broken (locking you in or out at times), room keys became un-magnetized several times and the food in the only restaurant on property was below average and very expensive. The restaurant across the street, Grouse on the Green, was just ok with pub fare and only served lunch and dinner.
The view is incredible and it is a place to relax. There is NOTHING going on up there. If you're looking for some true privacy and peace and quiet, then this is the place. Provided you're not looking for a good night sleep.

Our mountainside property, inspired by a chateau in Belgium, offers a peaceful, calming retreat for guests that wish to enjoy grand views of the Vail Valley. While we’re delighted to read that this aspect of your stay met your expectations, we are truly disappointed as it seems that other areas did not. With numerous nearby activities no matter what the season, the lodge is an excellent place to relax or to enjoy an adventure filled vacation. We are always evaluating areas of our property where we may improve the experience we offer guests and appreciate that you shared your suggestions with us. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, thank you.

We just had our wedding at Cordillera and it was absolutely perfect. The wedding itself and every trip up there prior turned out to be a great vacation for my husband and me as well as our families. The staff, especially front desk, restaurant and bell, is incredibly friendly and very accommodating.

The views all around the hotel are stunning, especially from Overlook lawn, and the rooms are all very nice and spacious. The patios in every room is a huge plus. The food is always delicious and they did a wonderful job with the menu for our welcome reception and wedding. I also have had great spa services there and the gym is really nice with a great view of pool and mountain backdrop. The best feature, and what sold us for our wedding, is the privacy. It's very quiet and the perfect place for a relaxing Colorado mountain vacation.

From a wedding planning perspective Angela was wonderful to work with - always available and very helpful! The one challenge we had on the wedding planning side was that in the year we were planning our wedding there, there was some staff turnover (and I'd heard this from another bride) so things that we'd negotiated and communicated with one or more staff member didn't always get communicated clearly and therefore we had some logistical misunderstandings right up until a few weeks before the wedding. I'm sure this can be expected with any hotel though, especially in a tourist destination; my advice for planning a wedding anywhere would just be to have everything in writing.

Our guests all had an amazing time. We will definitely be back, hopefully for future anniversaries and some weekend getaways.

We hiked close by in the mountains and came back to swim. The room we had was a 2 bedroom suite and was spacious and thoughtfully laid out. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Our stay at the Cordillera Lodge was a delight and the weather a lovely change of pace from the Texas heat. Our welcome to the lodge was very pleasant due to Brad's kind hospitality. We were then escorted to our rooms by an equally warm Bennett who also chauffeured us around on several occasions to Beaver Creek and Vail. Brad gave us a great recommendation on where to eat in Edwards the night we arrived. The rooms were very clean and we had a marvelous view of the mountains from our downstairs room. Housekeeping was very responsive to any request for extra towels or toiletries. The only issue we had with our room was it got to warm and the controller on the wall didn't work. That was quickly resolved when we called the front desk and found that they can lower the temperature remotely! Being from Texas a fan in the room would have been a plus. The pool was nice but again the view was spectacular from there also. The gentleman at the bar kept great tunes playing while relaxing poolside. Our waiters were top notch and the food was delicious. They have the freshest fruit at breakfast and their steaks were great. I enjoyed the spa while there. Trina gave a very good facial and my massage was good too. The cost was a bit pricey but expected at a resort. All of the staff whether front desk, housekeeping or grounds keepers were very friendly! I would love to go back in the winter to view the mountainsides with snow. We saw several mule deer on and around the property. Their flowers and landscaping were beautiful! If you are looking to slow down and escape for a while visit Cordillera!

We decided to spend a weekend away from Denver to get away from the city only to find ourselves in a loud, unrestful and stressful hotel atmosphere. The hotel caters to weddings in which we found ourselves in the middle of one the weekend we were there. They must be hurting for money as you can clearly see how they promote wedding parties. It's on their website (red flag), magazines throughout the lobby and almost everywhere you look. The bottom line is that as a regular hotel guest, you have limited service. There was a reception dinner on Friday night outside our room which went on throughout the night; pool closed at 4p on Saturday for the wedding; no space in the bar lobby (which is a problem as you're staying so far away from the nearest town so you're forced to eat and drink at the hotel).

The worst part of the stay was the cheap construction in that you hear EVERYTHING from the hotel room next door. When we mentioned this to the rude front desk receptionist, Brad, he responded with nonchalance and appeared to be overly irritated. It was embarressing. We travel frequently and have always encountered friendly front desk staff. He wasn't.

Everyone else at the hotel was friendly and had a great customer service.

While we’re truly grateful that you chose to spend a weekend escape at our property, we are disappointed to read that your stay did not meet your expectations. Each and every one of our guests is a valued member of our extended family so we deeply regret if the care or service you received during your visit did not reflect this. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. Your comments have been shared with our management team and we will investigate ways to let guests know about weddings and any facility closures that may affect them. We hope that you’ll give us another opportunity in the future, thank you.
