This is a newer Residence Inn property ( or recently updated ). Nothing beats a new carpet and bed and a new coat of paint. I have seen a lot of older Residence and they get nasty with age. This property is definitely above average. The location is a little odd at a main road backing up to a mountain. The one thing I noticed that in opposite to most of this kind of mid-end hotels the staff was actually attentive and easy to talk to. Part of the Residence Inn concept is daily cheap free wine and food. The free junk-food was actually fun because of the mixed crowd and engaging staff members. We were there during a fire and that may have had to do with it since the hotel was packed with news people and firemen. The third criteria that moves this place above average ( condition and staff were 1 and 2 ) was the full size pool. Most of the time you end up with a Kitty pool which is hardly usable for preteen kids. Their pool is nicely sized and the kids spend every day at the pool for 1-2 hours - most of the time nobody else was there. They had actually more fun at that pool than at other resort style pools which were crowded and undersized...So if you want to go to Durango with your family and your kids like to swim - this is a good choice.

This is a typical RI and provides a good value for room size, amenities,etc. I would not stay here again due to the noise level. Walls seem VERY thin, could hear road noise, hallway doors opening/closing and next door coughing, talking, being intimate and every time the upstairs room walked it sounded like a herd of elephants. More soundproofing is needed!

We booked our Durango visit through the Texas golf trail concierge which was very helpful. The residence inn in Durango was consistent with other residence inns. It was convenient to main street Durango and easy to find. The staff was great event hour it was Christmas eve. The room was spacious enoug for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We got a roll away bed and had plenty of comfortable sleeping. The wet area was great. We needed more towels and that was arranged easily. We will be back.

I have stayed at many Residence Inns and this property in Durango is consistent with the brand. The lobby was just remodeled and the rooms were is good shape, clean and spacious. We were in town for three nights to ride the Polar Express. There is no way to walk to town (at least in the winter) but town is less than 5 minutes away. The folks at the front desk were perfunctional, and thats about it. On the other hand, the folks that worked the breakfast area were super friendly and helpful and contributed to a nice stay. If you are familiar with the Residence Inn brand and happy with that level of service, you will be content in Durango at this Residence Inn.
