“Very Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

I have stayed at Residence Inn many times when I am in Durango. I usually get a small suite and find it to be very spacious and clean. The staff at the front desk are very helpful and friendly. The location is great, just outside town but within easy walking distance to downtown. The prices vary from season to season but I still find this to be a very affordable place to stay.
I highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here 7-12-12. We stayed in a king suite that was very spacious and nice. We were on the 2nd floor, very quiet. Loved the kitchen features. Great bed, very comfortable-best sleep we had on vacation!!! Had drinks and appetizers at 5:30, the staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was better than most hotels, again with a terrific staff constantly making sure the breakfast foods were refilled and available. Very friendly staff, always saying "hi" and making sure we were comfortable. May sound silly, but the towels were nice. Not sandpapery, but soft and fluffy. If in Durango, definitely stay here.

I travel frequently to Durango for work, and I always stay at the Residence Inn/Mariott. I recently took the family there and they were extremely pleased. The pool/hot tub are very clean. The entire hotel has been remodeled so all of the furnishings, etc. are crisp and new. I love the small kitchen with all the appliances and dishes-you don't have to pack a thing. I've stayed at almost every other hotel in central Durango, and this one outshines them all.

We stayed in a 2 room suite, 4 adults 2 older kids, advertised as sleeps 6, with two king rooms & pullout couch. Couch was too small so had to pay extra for a rollaway bed. King beds very comfortable, rooms and bathrooms nice size. Great free breakfast and managers cocktail party each day. Location, very convenient to downtown Durango. Only other problem was we were on first floor and it sounded like a herd of elephants when the person above us walked (not sure if it was because floor thin or person above very large) and the central air unit was in a closet in our bedroom and was very loud every time it turned on.

Very nice basic hotel - clean, spacious rooms with kitchen. We stayed on the third floor and it was very quiet. The hotel has an indoor pool, outdoor tennis and basketball court, and a free buffet style breakfast available downstairs each morning. If you have time to stay awhile, a very short walk east from the hotel will take you along a paved walking / bike path along the Animas River and to shops and restaurants in historic and scenic downtown Durango. We stayed June 22 & 23 and saw / heard no signs of renovating.

Our reservation for a 1-bedroom suite was upgraded at no charge to a 2-bedroom suite. With three of us -- my husband and I, plus our adult daughter -- it was a great experience. The room was fabulous; spacious living room with full kitchen and small eating area and two full bathrooms and bedrooms. Being on the second floor, our windows had a lovely natural view. Laundry facilities were right on the same floor which was really appreciated as our daughter had just come out of a wilderness experience. Complimentary breakfast, although not restaurant quality, was among the best of a limited service hotel I've seen. And staff were incredibly attentive, willing to help out at breakfast in any way. As was the rest of the staff. All in all ... our stay was great.

Our only complaint? Wifi was not the greatest. It was somewhat intermittent, but hotel staff did their best to help by providing a portable wifi kit to increase reception.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the back of the hotel.

We stayed 3 days June 6-9 2012. The rooms were fine, typical RI. There was construction underway in parking lot and hotel common areas. Minor inconvenience. The staff was friendly but short handed. Free breakfast and wireless internet was fine. Cleaning staff was there only part time. Pool, exercise room were OK but nothing special.
To get to historic Durango, you need to walk along busy highway, over Animas River and 3 blocks to Main St. We did not mind it, but not a lovely walk. Take the River walk to ease the traffic noise.
Next time we will try something near Main Street.

Room Tip: may want to be on the back away from outdoor volley/basketball and busy highway.
