“One star at best”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

When I opened the door I was knocked down by the odor of too much room deodorizer. The smell never went away. The hotel sits right next to the main road and I heard traffic going and coming all night and all morning. The room was recently renovated but the window was not measured accurately because the drapes were too short. They didn't even reach the bottom of the window sill. The clothes rack was mounted about one foot from the ceiling. The front desk was closed at night, so don't loose your key or get locked out!

We are very sorry to hear about your unpleasant stay with us. We will be alerting the housekeeping staff about the situation immediately. Please also know that we are training new housekeepers right now. As you stated the hotel is close to Durango’s main road but this is where 99% of all hotels in the area are. This is the road that just about everything in town is located and where most people visiting want to be for ease of access. This is also the main route the local trolley system uses, which conveniently has a stop in front of the hotel. We are also in our slow season where we do remodels and order and install things such as drapes and bed spreads. We do apologies for the drapes in the room though. As for your comment on the hotel being closed at night, Yes the front desk is closed be there is always an attendant available at our location just 300 feet away.

The main problem was that the card would not open the door. Staff gave me another card. This would not open the door. The staff then came with me and pointed out that the door was warped and needed to be pulled hard closed before the key would open the door. So presumably everyone who uses that room has the same problem! Apart from that it was a nice room, good and clean. There was a good breakfast area with a continental breakfast provided. The wi-fi service rarely worked.

We are very sorry about the issue with the door. We are working to resolve the issue. Between the drastic temperature changes and swelling of the doors it makes it hard to combat the problem at times. But there is no excuse and we will fix the situation. We are glad to hear that outside of that problem you enjoyed your stay. We are always trying to improve ourselves and the hotel. You are actually one of the first to have internet issues with us. We have made investments into new technologies to strengthen and spread the wireless range. Thanks again for your stay and review.

Room was very quiet. Did not hear any outside noises. A very pleasant place to stay at reasonable rates.
