As a lot of hotels/motels in Durango were full we got stuck here. The desk receptionist was great at selling the rooms but when I got to my room found it dirty, furnished with old, worn, 50s furniture that looked like it was bought at a flea market. There were 3 spiders crawling on the wall, the surge suppressor was hanging next to the TV console, the wire from the TV went into a hole in the wall, the carpet was dirty and not vacuumed. You could tell that the room hadn't had a good cleaning in a while. It was hard to sleep because the outside light was so bright and, with only window shades, there was no way to block out the light. The pillows were very lumpy too. The rooms at the far end of the property need to be totally redone or not rented out (most weren't). It looked like it had been a while since the parking area had been cleaned up too (that should have given us a clue). There was also a full trash can that needed to be emptied. I refused to stay in the room with the spiders and got my money back and stayed in another room with a friend and that one wasn't any better. I noticed that the room I left was again rented out even after my complaints of the spiders. These rooms were NOT cheap either! They were worth about $40 but were charged over twice that much.
Don't even consider staying here!
Check the room first! And don't accept a room at the bottom end of the property.

We are very sorry for your unsatisfactory stay with us. We have just recently undergone a serious management change and are working to make changes all of the property. To start I would like to address the issue about the spiders. I completely understand your complaint and apologize. This year has been very hard with spiders and we have and are investing finds with the professionals at Orkin Pest Control to handle the bugs. We were not the only hotel in town who has had this issue but that is still no excuse. We are in the process of redoing many of the rooms at the hotel, this includes a much stricter cleaning process and higher qualified housekeepers. Once again we apologize and hope that in the future there is a way we can serve you again and this time much better.
