“Very Nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2010

Very nice hotel that has spacious rooms and an excellent location. Hey, there's an Albertson's across the parking lot and you can easily walk to the Durango to Silverton train. Also, walk to the main streets and explore the shops, bars, and historic hotels. Don't miss visiting the microbrewery restaurants close by also.

Very pleased with our stay at Doubletree. Room was very clean and roomy. We had a room riverside with balcony which was great. Awesome staff. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good with many choices. Location is great.. Price was a little steep.

I have stayed at the Doubletree four times and have been happy each time. The rooms are very spacious, and the riverview rooms are a must. The staff is always smiling and friendly, and ready to help when you have a request. The hotel is quite, and the beds are comfortable. Een though the Doubletree is priced higher than some of the other lodging options, I would choose this hotel each time. You are close to the dowtown, a supermarket, and the train station.

The rooms are spacious, and comfortable and quiet and the bed was phenomenal. We stayed at the Doubletree the last 2 nights in our sojourn through Durango, Farmington and Gallup NM, Mesa Verde and then back to Durango. This was the first time I really slept. It was convenient to everything, and the hot tub was great for our sore muscles from hiking too far and too much.

Had only one night to spend here on our Sept. trip through Colorado, but wished we could have stayed longer. We had a king room, city view, and in light of the fact we were out and about almost constantly, the city view was fine for us. Beds were plush, room was spacious and top quality. Everything went smoothly our whole time. All the staff members were friendly and helpful. This is a great choice for Durango. It is walking distance into town, and there is a traffic light which lets you cross the busy street out front easily. Free internet in the business center & even a coin operated washer-dryer on the ground level. Loved our stay and everything about this hotel.

We recently stayed at this establishment during our Colorado vacation. I am a frequent traveler and have a Gold status with Hilton so I have a lot of experience with that brand (Hampton, Doubletree, Hilton, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites). We found this to be one of the best Doubletrees that we've ever stayed in. It is a large well appointed hotel with a western feel to it. The room and bed were top quality Doubletree. Ideally located along the Animas River walk with a balcony overlooking the walk and river (make sure to ask for a riverside room). We took a nice stroll along the walk before dinner. We normally don't eat dinner at the hotel, preferring to try local restaurants but after seeing the menu and the lovely restaurant we opted to eat there. We had an excellent meal - a Colorado Rack of Lamb for me and a Prime Rib for her - sitting by the large windows by the river. It's a short walk to the main street in Durango which looked quite interesting. Unfortunately we didn't have the time or energy to make it after having spent the last few days at Mesa Verde and Monument Valley. All in all a very nice relaxing stay.

Keeps us coming back.

You can get cheaper hotels in Durango. You can find a few just as nice. But for my family and I, the Doubletree's location is hard to beat. Back facing rooms border the Animas river, the river path, and numerous cottonwoods and aspen. Sitting on your balcony or on the grass in back of the hotel is a relaxing experience. Forward facing rooms aren't quite as quiet, but you can get a nice view of the Narrow gauge railway if you're up high enough.

From the location you can easily walk the river path, walk to the railway, or walk down main to shopping, restaurants, bars. Rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Dining area and pool are nice and clean. One of my favorite Doubletrees, and not just for the fact that it is located in one of my favorite towns in then Southwest.
