“Too expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Nice view of river. Spent 200 dollars for one night, to find out there was no free breakfast. You have to belong to some special club to eat there. The mattresses were like lying on a pile of bricks, for all the money the joint makes you think they'd feed you and buy nicer mattresses.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel -the DoubleTree by Hilton Durango on Trip Advisor. We always appreciate feedback from our guests.
With respect to our beds, they are specially made for Hilton Hotels and are called "Sweet Dreams" beds consisting of a firm mattress and box spring and a feather bed on top. some of our guests prefer we leave off the feather bed for a firmer sleep, others we can add feather beds for a softer sleep. Should you make another reservation wtih us please let us know and we'd be happy to comply. We thank you for your business and welcome you back anytime you are in the area.

Situated with a majestic mountain view and plenty of creature comforts. HHonors members enjoy top floor accomodations in spacious rooms. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of key local attractions and shopping. This is definitely the right choice for a relaxing family vacation!

The hotel was conveniently located to the downtown historical area; all in walking distance. The hotel allows pets and it is located on the walkway to the pet park. The Albertson's grocery store is across the street. The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious. I think that they could have larger trash receptacles in the rooms.

The hotel staff was charming and helpful. Any small issues we had (noise from the room above us late at night) were dealt with efficiently and with good grace. Bathrooms were very clean! As a base for all your Durango and La Plata County activities you can't ask for much better. The general manager is a charming man and deeply involved in his community which is nice to know.

Stayed one night for the Polar Express train ride. Three adults and two children, 8 and 10 in two rooms. Overall a good experience. Clean rooms with quality beds and furnishings. While the breakfast was good our waittress left something to be desired. She was not very efficient and overall rather slow.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

We stayed at this hotel as part of a package with the Polar Express train ride. We received a greatly discounted rate for the single night. The hotel is very nice with great service. We had a river view room and it was lovely.

The room was very spacious and well appointed. It was very clean and details like extra pillows were seen to. We received fresh cookies at check in which was a nice touch as well. The hotel was a block away from the train station and also within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. We used our car as the weather was quite chilly but in better weather that would be a benefit. We did not eat at the onsite restaurant but it did smell very good. My husband and boys used the pool and it is well set up for younger children. Not too deep at the outside and nice and warm too. My 5 and 7 year old loved it after our train adventure!!

The only downside to the room was the cold drafts that came in from the sliding door to the balcony. You could see the curtain move from it. We upped the heating to compensate but it was a bit of a surprise.

We look forward to doing this trip again in the future and we would stay at this hotel in a snap!!

Green Features: They had split rubbish bins in the room with one side for recycling and the other for trash.
