“Great river view”

Good comfortable hotel, great location right on the river, balcony to overlook the river. Great access to walk to downtown for entertainment and dining. Comfortable and quiet, very accommodating front desk staff.

Stayed one night in June 2013 en route to the Grand Canyon. The location of the property is outstanding, and probably the reason they charge what they do for an "average" room. The pool is on the small side, but the kids enjoyed it. The hotel offers breakfast in the form of a $16 dollar buffet ($8 for kids) or you can order from the menu. There is also a number of restaurants within walking distance if you would rather eat elsewhere. Altogether, a dated but nice hotel. But if you're just passing through, recommend staying somewhere else and saving some money.

Room Tip: Unless you plan on spending time on the balcony/patio, choose a street side room and save the money...

Just returned from four nights at the Double Tree in Durango and was quite impressed. Our 4th floor balcony room overlooked the Animas River so sleeping was divine with the screen door open at night. We requested a refrig for the room and it arrived quickly along with some beverages from room service. Awesome walking path close to the hotel where you can check out the river if you want to raft. Very close to MANY restaurants as well as 2 on property to meet all needs. We will return for sure!

We frequently visit Durango for both pleasure and business and find the Doubletree to be the best hotel in Durango based on location and service. The property is walking distance to everything so once you arrive you never need to move your car. You can walk across the street to the Albertson's parking lot and sign up for river rafting, you can walk to the "old down town" and plenty of great restaurants. Most people know the airport is actually about 15 minutes outside of town. Staff is efficient, room service was good this time and we always get exactly the type of room we request. This is not a 5 star hotel, but in my book it's the best available in Durango. If you are looking for historical, try the Strater, but I find the rooms, elevators, etc. to small as in any "old" hotel.

Room Tip: I prefer top floor because it's quieter and of course a river view is nice.

At $260/night not good value. Carpets dirty, furnishings not in scale with the room size, facility looked like it was in a time warp from the 80's. Bed was comfortable, liked the two sinks in bathroom. Staff may be seasonal...and it shows at the front desk and the restaurant. There are much better options for dining than at the hotel.

We had the best experience at this hotel. Everything about it was perfect. One block from downtown and the train with a grocery store and other amenities next door. I can't say enough about our location and the facility. Price was reasonable for what we got.

The Doubletree in Durango is a bit of heaven. It is located right in front of the river, next to a walking, biking path, and adjacent to a grocery store Our room had a big balcony that faced the river and this was perfect and soothing. Plus, we took advantage of the exercise trail that stretched on in both direction for miles. We ran 6 miles, but if you bike it appeared the trail went a lot farther than that. We had the most positive and uplifting experience with their housekeepers, customer representatives, room service, and restaurant staff. The hotel and staff meet and exceeded our expectations in every way: for comfort, service, promptness, friendliness, being welcoming, and providing a relaxing! The beds were extra comfortable. The decor was perfect. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of options; I personally loved the fresh orange juice, scrambled eggs and cheese, bacon, potatoes, fresh fruit, yogurt area with toppings, and the fresh muffins and cinnamon rolls. We pretty much tasted it all and went back for seconds. The rooms were super clean and had a fresh smell to them. We also had the most beautiful aspens outside our balcony. The hotel made fresh cookies and had lemon water out every day as well. The staff was accommodating when we needed to leave out luggage for several hours because we booked a tour for the same day we were leaving. We are planning another trip to Durango in a few months and we are looking forward to staying in this Doubletree again.

Room Tip: Fourth floor facing the river with a balcony are super great!

Green Features: The hotel offers linen reuse and energy saving light bulbs and had dividers in their trash cans to separate recyclables from the rest of the trash.
