I read lots of negative reviews of this hotel and I was intending not to book here. However, when I scheduled our rafting tour the woman on the phone promised me that she had stayed here with her mother who is picky and they thought it was fine. I tend to be pretty picky, but to keep the expenses of our 2 week trip under control we've stayed in lots of inexpensive but clean and nice hotels over the past week (thanks to tripavisor!) and this is the worst and most expensive hotel we have stayed in so far. I could do this all over again, I would plan on spending a little more for a better hotel.

Room was pricey, but overlooked the Animas River. Room was tiny, but beds were comfortable. Staff was very nice.

I had expected the indifferent treatment we usually get in Breckenridge, but was pleasantly surprised that not everyone in Colorado dislikes Texans.

We rode the train and I highly recommend it! Ride up and take the bus back.

The hotel is okay….the sheets are clean but feel like sand paper and the rooms smelled old. The hotel is TOALLY over priced for what it is…is should be like $49.99 a night. There are much better options in Durango. Two great places to eat are: Ken & Sue’s for dinner and for breakfast Jean Pierre Bakery.

i stayed 7/8/07. the wireless internet didn't work. rooms looked like a ramada or days inn. rates for this hotel were to high. for what you got. i decided to stay over in durango an extra day after i checked out of the hampton, which was the same price. decor was several years old and no breakfast was served.

i'm going to write a letter to holiday inn and let them know i wasn't satisfied.
