“Tips for Durango stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Things we like the most:
Take a right out of the hotel and 2 doors down was the Durango Brewery
(At the hotel we signed up for the Beer tour and got discount tickets for food/beer)

Right across the street was a Pizza place with outdoor seating and many beers on tap.

Across the street and to the left was the Dairy Queen and Wallgreens.

So many great places to eat/drink in Durango. Another of my favorites was the Lady Falconfurgh's. (just hope the free bus and get off downtown)

Other positives that did not see others mention:
the pool is in the back - not on the road like all the other hotels
(Also have 2 spas)
All the staff was very helpful

Room Tip: Ask to be on the seocnd floor away from the road

Staying at this motel as I'm writing this. The room is clean and beds are comfy. Motel isn't anything spectacular, but it's nice enough. Most the places to stay in Durango are motels, not sure why. If you're looking to stay at double tree, save your money and stay here. The rooms are almost identical, maybe a few differences, but not many. I said double tree just because it looks like one of the more expensive places to stay. We got a 2 double bedroom, non smoking for 177. Expensive for the value, but I wouldn't expect anything else because its the busiest time of the year. They offer a continental breakfast from 6-9 am. Can't comment on the breakfast because I haven't had it yet, we walked by when we checked in and it looks like a standard breakfast...cereal, hash browns...etc. The room is fairly big, the bathroom is average size. Plus they have a nice outdoor pool which is a major plus in the summer!!! Save your money and stay here

we paid $174 dollars to stay here (tax included) on sunday, june 9th. i feel it was way too much, but most of durango was booked up, so we had no choice. the hotel is clean, the breakfast is fantastic, but it looks from the outside like and old super 6 motel. nothing fancy for your money. it has a small pool, we were in one the the back rooms and the wifi was very bad, it hardly worked at all. the location is off the main road, so you can take the bus into old town for free. i would stay here again, but for half the price.

Room Tip: maybe if you can get a room close to the office the wifi would work better

I want to thank you for choosing the Quality Inn, Durango CO. I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay to your fullest. Durango is a destination location, and because of this, the hotels can tend to get more expensive than your standard highway motel. We do try very hard to price our hotel competitive, and are usually $10-30 per night less than the Comfort Inn and we have a better location. We are very appreciative of guests' posts, as it helps us learn & perform our jobs better - our primary concern is guest comfort; we have shared your comments as an entire staff, to help the whole team see the hotel as guests see the hotel.
We do hope that next time you visit Durango, you'll come & give us another try.
Kindest Regards,
Brooke Henderson and the Durango Quality Inn Team

They allowed us to check in early. The room was very clean. My only complaint is that there is road noise on North Main but that would be the case with all hotels on that busy street. It is about a block from Fiesta Mexicana so you can walk there for a delicious meal. The free breakfast was great. Wifi works quickly.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor about or hotel. As I’m sure you know, guest feedback is extremely important to all of us here at the Quality Inn Durango. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and apologize for any road noise that you may have heard. You are correct; being in a great location has the downfall more traffic.
A small hint for your next stay: Ask to stay in the back buildings by the pool, they are much quieter!

My boyfriend and I were moving from Las Vegas, NV to St. Paul, MN and wanted to try a different route home. We decided to spend our first night in Durango at the Quality Inn. When we were about 30 miles out of town, we ended up hitting two deer and ruined our rental truck. I called the hotel and the gentlemen told me not to worry, that he would hold our hotel all night. It took 5 hours for us to finally get our tow into Durango. When we showed up, we had a huge moving truck that we had to leave somewhere. The gentlemen working said not to worry, we can leave it in their lot as long as we needed. He also made sure we had plenty of water and went out of his way to get us snacks. The next morning, we were stranded. The truck company wouldn't help us. The hotel staff was sooo nice. They let us check out 2 hours late and offered us their breakfast room if we needed somewhere to hang out after. We ended up having to stay a second night and, once again, they couldn't have been more welcoming. The staff turned a horrible situation into a pleasant experience for us. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone going to Durango. The river is also directly behind the hotel which is just beautiful! Thank you so much to the entire staff! They were absolutely wonderful!!!

When I walked in the door Matt greated me with a friendly smile. I was checked in effeciently and he offered great recomendations for local resturantes. Our room was clean and It had a comfortable bed with some of the best pillows I have ever used. The best part of my stay was the Hot Tubs. The quality inn has some of the best hotel hot tubs I have sceen on my travels. They have two large hot tubs so you don't have to worry about it being crouded. They had a great breakfast and fast wifi. Overall a great stay.
