“Decent place, good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

Stayed 4 nights at the Quality Inn in Durango Colorado. Had one of the rooms away from the road so it was quiet. Had a nice pool. Breakfasts were good - had a nice variety, including hot foods every day. The staff was very nice and helpful. I had read reviews about all the hotels in Durango and was not impressed with any of them, but Quality Inn was a fairly nice hotel with great beds/linens, clean, and at a fair price. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask to be in the building that is set back from the main street.

I stayed there about a year ago, and left a review. Pretty much all of that stands.

This year, I would say my visit was as good or better than last time. The room was clean, no issues at all, except that dang crazy air conditioner set up still bothers me. Whoever the mental midget was that decided an air conditioner should be placed in the bathroom should be stoned in the town square. If they ever do a major remodel of the rooms, moving the a/c's to the front of the room like every other hotel on the planet would be helpful.

Didn't try the internet this year. The new iPhone compatible alarm clock was a nice addition, even thought it's a bit goofy to operate. I think I wound up paying something like $120 for my room. Anywhere else in the country, this room should cost about 65-70 bucks, but hey, it's Durango.

Let me skip the fluff and help you decide whether you want to stay there or not. Read the reviews and you will find some minor personality flaws this hotel has, such as the odd air conditioners, small rooms, cramped parking lot, and very handicap-unfriendly dining area. It's old, and any hotel this age will have flaws. But given the outrageous prices for hotels in Durango, this spot is one of the better values you can find. Decent enough service, modest but clean, and they appear to be making a pretty good effort to keep the place from falling apart. It is holding up well. The parking lot seems to be safe, and I was not worried about my car getting broken into.

I've stayed in a few hotels in Durango in recent years. This hotel is one of the best bangs for your buck in town, is clean, and is seemingly safe. That is my bottom line. If you agree that value, cleanliness, and safety are your bottom line, than you will be satisfied. If you are a big spender and want to pay 150-200 bucks for a room, you can do much better than this place. But if value is a part of your bottom line in an expensive tourist town, get a room here and you will be okay.

Room Tip: Get a two queen room instead of a king room if you want a bigger room. The king rooms are very smal...

We stayed here on the spur of the moment and were lucky to get their last room. The staff was nice enough to let us have it even though they probably should have been saving it in case someone needed to change rooms for whatever reason.
There was a batch of warm cookies on the counter while we were checking in - delicious!
The room was clean and quiet. The funishings were "like new"and the room had a microwave, refridgerator and a flat screen TV. Was happy with hotel and would stay in again.

The hotel is on a main street, with a nice laundramat located a block away if you need to do a mid-vacation clean up. Room was on first floor and nice, though smaller than some and only 1 chair. Registration people were great, and tried to help when internaet wifi service went down, but never did get reolved. Talked with their Help Desk - like most help desks not real helpful.

Room Tip: No elevator, so if stairs bother you, ask for first floor. That being said, the free breakfast is s...

I am very sorry to hear about your trouble with the internet connection. We recently switched providers to obtain faster service for our guests and we are still trying to work out the kinks! We are also serving the same breakfast items in our lobby to accommodate guests who are unable to climb stairs as easily. The seating area is smaller but the front desk staff is there for anyone that needs assistance.

My spouse and I stayed here for four nights during the "Iron Mountain" bike race over Memorial Day weekend. It was so refreshing to have a group of young, clean-cut, enthusiastic people attending to our every need. We did have a few issues with the Internet connection, and the staff worked long and hard to correct our problems. Our second floor room was immaculately clean and well stocked. My only complaint was that for the duration of the stay, our room was a little bit tight. The breakfast (served on the second floor) was very nice with a different variety of hot items each day in addition to the fruit, cereal, pastries, and yogurt. The hotel staff from the front desk ckerks to the breakfast attendants to the cleaning crew were all totally dedicated to providing top customer service and went above and beyond the call to make our stay enjoyable. There are no elevators in this hotel, and if I am not mistaken, there was an area on the first floor where handicapped persons could get breakfast.

Thank you for your kind words! We always love to get feedback on how well guests enjoyed their stay with us. We have recently switched internet providers to gain faster internet service for our guests and that is coming with the usual trouble shooting issues. Thank you for letting us know about your issues during your stay as well as on trip advisor. We take everyone's comments seriously and do our best to resolve any situations that arise. One of our buildings you may have been staying in is a bit smaller than our other two, so if you join us again in the near future, please don't hesitate to call the front desk and request a larger room in one of our buildings when you book your reservation!

You are correct about the breakfast as well. We offer a breakfast service downstairs in our lobby for those who cannot or prefer not to use the staircase to the upstairs breakfast area. We hope to see you and your spouse again soon!

Sincerely,
Kristin

The clerk was very friendly at check in. The room was very clean. I couldn't find a problem with it. Did have a strong odor of freshner spray. Was to tired to see if there was a stink machine in the room. Biggest problem was the internet SUCKED! If I could connect at all it was piggy back off the signal from the Travelodge. Also, the breakfast did not meet up to Choice Hotel Standards. Which states you must have 3 hot items. Not counting the waffles. They only had two bisquits and gravey. Which were not in the standard dictated display containers.

And speaking of this a person that is handicap would have a very hard time getting to the breakfast area which is located above the office. Navigating steps is a must at this property. I don't see how they are ADA compliant.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We will inform our housekeeping staff about using less room fresheners in the rooms when they clean.

As for the internet, we have switched providers to provide guests with a faster internet service and we are still working out our troubleshooting issues!

We actually offer a breakfast service in our front lobby downstairs for our guests who are unable to access the staircase. There is a small seating area to the left of the reception desk. The front desk attendant is also there to assist guests with any breakfast needs.

I'm sorry to hear about the breakfast menu items and the containers they were housed in. We usually offer an egg quiche, biscuits and gravy and waffles, as well as fruit, yogurt, bagels, toast, etc. The breakfast attendants have been informed of your feedback.

Please let us know if there is anything else you noticed, or if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kristin

Reception was friendly, rooms are dated but maintained in a good shape and clean. Breakfast buffet is pretty good and area has sufficient seating. Overall good value for money using coupon rates. Acceptable for a night's stay.

Thank you providing us with feedback on your recent stay. We are constantly trying to improve our guests' stay and updating rooms is part of the improvements on our list. We have updated our bathrooms with granite countertops, have 32" flat screen TV's in every room, and the furniture is due to be replaced within the year. We will have all new bed frames, chairs, tables, and dressers in every room. The breakfast items have recently been updated as well and we are trying to offer as many options for our guests as we can. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions or wish to keep tabs on when the new furniture has been implemented. Sincerely, Kristin
