“Older motel, but still a good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

This hotel may be a 2-star, but it is comfortable, clean, has good amenities and an included breakfast. Yes, it is older, but has been refurbished. Our room was smaller than other Quality Inns and on the ground floor not far from the main road and lobby. We were expecting to be noisy, but it was fine.

Their web site shows pretty well what you get. At the rear of the property between two 2-story blocks is the pool and to the side on a lower level at the end of the Northern block are two hot tubs. Even though flat screen TVs are shown on their web site, our room still had an older CRO-type TV. But, it didn't mean a thing for us, I don't think we ever turned it on.

Breakfasts are served in a sunny room above the lobby. Plenty of hot and cold choices, but got a little busy with a full house.

We had a great meal at the Fiesta Mexicana restaurant next door. Bright, colourful surroundings, good value huge meals and perfect margaritas! Great for a night either just the two of you or with a group. Recommended.

Thank you for sharing your review. Our king rooms are smaller than our rooms with 2 queen beds, if you can get by on a queen bed they may be a better option when you are staying several days. Again, appreciate you sharing and look forward to seeing you in the future. . Blue Skies, Mary Hert/ Quality Inn

Unlike several reviews, we really liked the location of the A/C unit being on the back wall. This design allows the cool air to flow into the room without blowing directly on the bed and it is not as noisey so we could hear the TV when the a/c was running. The area parking was a bit cramped but the outside area was very tidy. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable beds. I do find the breakfast on the second floor to be a bit strange. The supply of food was fine but it was far too crowded, giving the feeling of being rushed. We also think hotel/motel prices in Durango were far too expensive for what you get.

Thank you for writing a review. I’m glad to hear the air cond. placement worked for you. Come back & visit us Sept – May and you will find much more reasonable prices. It seems summer is higher for most areas but Durango with all its attractions runs low on room availability therefore price’s seem to be higher sorry. Again, appreciate you sharing and look forward to seeing you in the future. . Blue Skies, Mary Hert/ Quality Inn

This hotel has it;s problems especially if you are handicapped. While they do have handicap rooms their free breakfast, while plentiful and good, is UPSTAIRS. Upon booking that was not mentioned. Our room had an ordor and after we left they found a sewer problem which has since been fixed. Management made sure we were credited extra points to our Choice Privilges account. All in all a nice though older property, just be aware of the breakfast issue.

We stayed here for one night on a family road trip. We occupied two rooms that were clean and fine. However, both rooms smelled. We had to had the air conditioners blasting make it bearable. It seems to be a pet-friendly hotel, and the hotel doesn't seem to be able to get rid of the smell of the pets and soiling.
The breakfast was good.

Quality Inns are normally a safe bet, this one fell short of my expectations. No problems with check in and staff friendly enough, but the room, though clean, was very small and the air conditioning unit was unable to keep the temperature down. The price for the stay was steep (probably due to it being 4th July weekend), which made overall value not so good. Breakfast was good however and Durango Downtown is only a few minutes down the road by car. The area seemed safe enough.

The Quality Inn was a great place for my husband and me in June 0f 2011. We used it as our home base and spent 7 nights there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms had been updated with new bathroom fixtures and granite counter tops. The breakfasts suited our needs. We took several walks behind the hotel to the Amimas River to see rafters and to wave to the passengers on the Durango to Silverton train.

Room Tip: Our room with 2 queen beds was very spacious!

Very friendly desk staff made us feel welcome. The room was a disappointment, being quite cramped with a bedside table only on one side. The A/C unit is mounted at the back of the room next to the bathroom and was very inefficient, thankfully it wasn't too hot during our stay, I suspect it would struggle to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
The breakfast room is upstairs and rather cramped, the staff seemed to struggle to keep the food supplies topped up, but it was of good quality and no real complaint there.
The free trolley into town stops very close by both ways and is very useful for a trip into the centre of Durango.
We stayed three nights, room service was good and we were reasonably satisfied.
