“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

This is a comfortable well used hotel. They try to keep things up to date and do a good job. They were helpful when I requested them not to use air freshener due to allergy to it. I stay there because clean and I am a member of their frequent traveler program and accue points for a free stay.

A very good place to stay while exploring the many attractions in Durango, the most popular one being the Silverton steam train. Large clean room, good internet, good breakfast menu. Check bill at checkout for accuracy; was charged more for one night than I had reserved for, but was corrected when I noticed it.

Lovely location, rooms clean and spacious, very friendly and polite staff, great breakfast. Cheap Laundry facilities a surprise bonus. Kids loved the complimentary cookies and pool area. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Unhelpful to the point of surly personnel. When we were told the pool was open, in spite of seeing from the desk at check in that the pool cover was still in place, we expected someone to remove it. Upon coming back to the pool area, the cover remained and the desk clerk was no where to be found. The breakfast was awful. Cold eggs and greasy bacon. We were the only people in the breakfast area at 08:00. Guess we figured out why. AM desk clerk breezed in and out and did not even acknowledge us.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We value all of our guests and want their stays to be wonderful. I was sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience during your stay at our hotel. Please accept my sincere apology on behalf of the entire staff. We do often keep our indoor pool and Jacuzzi covered while not in use during less busy times and colder months for energy conservation. Had they front desk know the cover was on they would have been more than happy to remove it. Unfortunately maintenance did communicate to the front desk that the cover was on. We are happy to remove the cover whenever a guest communicates that to us. It is our goal to meet the needs to our guests.
We have been continuing to upgrade our breakfast by recently adding eggs and bacon to our menu. Most people have found these additions favorable, but we appreciate your comments on the bacon. We try to meet the needs of all of our guests by offering a wide variety of items in our free breakfast such as Belgium waffles with a variety of toppings, cereals, fruit, pastries, bagels, toast, yogurt, gourmet local coffee, oatmeal, assorted teas, assorted juices, scrambled eggs and bacon.
Regards,
Luke Albert

Durango, Colorado is awash with motels -- some exceptionally dodgy, others quite nice but expensive. At $135 a night the Best Western insomewhat above average in price, but well above average in quality of accommodation, amenities and courtesy of staff.

I've stayed here several times. I return to same hotels/motels only if satisfied and comfortable. BWMS in Durango is such a location. Very happy with room & service. Clean, attractive, very comfortable bed, quiet, good service. Not downtown, but that makes it attractive also. Great place. I will definately stay there next time in Durango and I definately would recommend to others.
