“A great experience, our second stay in about 5 years.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

This place hits on all cylinders, great old historic hotel, the best most attentive staff, very nice rooms, impeccably clean, very nice breakfast and tea, cookies all afternoon. I've seen some of the other reviews it's true this place does blur the line between a hotel and B&B but it does both very well. Great free internet, good sized room, nice bath, large tv with a good level of cable service. For those people who complained about creaky floors.... It's a 100+ year old historic hotel... Duh. Stay at a characterless McHotel, there's lots around.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We absolutely love that you understand that we try to blur the line between a b&b and a hotel. A memorable stay in a room that stands out is exactly what we strive to deliver. We hope to see you here again soon!

The hotel and surroundings are so cute & comfortable, you will feel at home here. We stayed here in late September. Since the weather was still nice, we were able to enjoy a live band on the patio outside in the evening. We really enjoyed that. The location is so nice, you are really right in the heart of downtown Durango. We enjoyed being able to walk to the restaurants and shops downtown. We were also close enough to walk to the train station for the Silverton Train ride. The complimentary breakfast is a plus. Take advantage of the bikes if you can. The only downside to this hotel is that there is limited parking. When we arrived we had to park elsewhere until a spot opened up. It is also a little pricey, but then again mostly everything in Durango is.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review! As with anywhere downtown, parking can be a pain in the summer. We thank you for understanding. We enjoyed having you here and hope you come back soon!

I loved staying at the Rochester. it is on Second Avenue one block off of Main Avenue so it's close to everything downtown, but quieter and more beautiful. The hotel grounds are lovely and the rooms are spacious and they include a fantastic breakfast! They even put a dog bed in my room for my pooch! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again in a second! It's also right across the street from one of the best restaurants in town, Cyprus Cafe and Eno a very cool wine bar with the best coffee in town. Check this place out!

Room Tip: If you have a pet, be sure to ask for one of their special pet rooms!

The Rochester Hotel and Leland House are hidden jewels in Durango! It is close to everything but off Main Avenue. The staff here think customer satisfaction as number 1. From check-in to check-out, there is nothing they won't do for you.

Previously I stayed at Leland House but wanted to stay in the Hotel this time. Our room was delightful, roomy, and comfortable. We had two doors leading onto a small patio in the courtyard, but was too cold to sit outside.

They have a full bar and will fix you whatever you want. They have all the fixings for tea, coffee, and their own hot chocolate mix. Breakfast in the morning is really good and satisfying. We opted for the continental with raspberry bread, muffins, oatmeal scones, grapefruit and orange cubes, and delightful spiced, sliced apples and raisins. The star however was the granola with large dollops of yogurt. Seconds!

The staff greet you when you arrive for breakfast and offer a hot croissant with egg and hot potatoes. Ask how you like your coffee and take it to your table then offer carafes of your choice of fresh juices. We felt so welcomed and comfortable.

As Arnold would say, "We'll be back!"

Room Tip: Ground floor on the courtyard.

We stayed here (in the Leland House) for our daughter's graduation. The breakfast is wonderful, with homemade pastries, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and a full cooked breakfast. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We had 2 queen suites for our family. The kitchen is a full size kitchen, this is essentially a three room suite, with a living room, kitchen/dining, and bedroom. The beds are very comfortable too. And of course this is right downtown, and you can walk everywhere. What more can you ask.

Room Tip: Choose the queen suite in the Leland House if you want a full kitchen.

The Rochester is the place to stay in downtown Durango. A classic hotel and each room has its own western theme. Also the Rochester has a cool history as the Hollywood of the West. The breakfast which is included with the stay is out of this world. Made with all fresh ingredients and served by a friendly staff. Easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. A five star stay all the way around.

Room Tip: Easy choice here, they are all great !

This cute hotel has staff members that really care about you and help you every time you ask. They go out of their way to accommodate your every need. Breakfast is like Grandma's house. Delicious and fresh as can be. Cannot wait for another "night away" stay.
