“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Would definitely recommend Logwood to anyone. We were planning on only staying two nights, but we liked it so much we ended up staying for five nights. My family of four stayed in the Animas Suite. It was very nice with plenty of room. Logwood has a great deck with a really good view. A stream is right out back, so it is relaxing to sit on the deck, listening to the stream and the birds.

Miles was a great host. His breakfasts were delicious and he gave great recommendations for restaurants and things to do in Durango.

If you want to get away from it all for a nice relaxing time, Logwood is the place.

My husband and I were celebrating our first anniversary with a trip to New Mexico and Colorado, and were looking for a romantic place to stay near Durango. The Logwood filled the bill! The setting is absolutely beautiful, with flowers, a gurgling stream, yummy breakfasts cooked by Miles (who does everything around the place!), and fun guests. The website photos don't do the place justice. Miles is the best innkeeper--laid-back, funny, charming, talented, helpful, and a great cook. We had three breakfasts there (8:30 is plenty early for breakfast!), and all three were imaginative, delicious, and filling. Our room, the Silverton, was in the basement, and while smallish, was roomy enough for us. The bed was very comfortable, and with the windows open all night and a cool breeze flowing in, we slept like "logs" every night.

We'd love to go back to Durango sometime--it's a beautiful area--and if we do, we'll be sure to stay at The Logwood again!

We stayed at the Logwood B&B in late June 2012. Originally we had planned to stay only two nights but liked it so much and the area was so beautiful that we asked to stay an extra night. The best part is that the Logwood provides more than just a room to sleep in. There is a large living room and dining room, all open to use by guests - so you feel as if you are in your own home and have full use of these rooms, for reading, chatting, etc. There is also a full-size guests regrigerator. Cookies or other snacks were always on the table in the dining room. On top of that, there is a great wrap around porch that was simply lots of fun to hang out on - whether for birding (lots of birds in the area) or sipping wine with friends. The grounds are very well kept and pretty with a branch of the Animal River just behind the B&B. Benches in the back garden allow you to sit next to or near the river. We stayed in the Aspen room, which was very clean and comfortable, although a bit small. We had an overhead fan (cool enough that it was not a problem) and no TV, but some other rooms apparently have airconditioners and TVs. We reserved the Aspen room because it was the most economical, we are not TV watchers, and we figured that we would only be sleeping in there, so the small size did not bother us at all - this was even more so when we realized we had the use of the entire house if we did come back before bed time and wanted to hang out in the lving room or on the porch. Miles (inn-keeper) was great - very friendly but still very respectful of one's privacy - and he cooked delicious brakfasts each morning and was very helpful and attuned to our needs. Needless to say, the area is beautiful, with "purple mountain majesties" and a neat hot spring just a few minutes down the road. One other thing: even thought the B&B is only a short distance from the main road, it was so very quiet and secluded that you would never have guessed how close the road actually is! Oh, the first night we realized we would arrive late (after 7:00) and let Miles know - when we got there we found a key waiting for us and instructions to our room and a nice welcome note.Overall a great stay - we recommend this place most highly and would definitely stay there again if we are back in the area.

Room Tip: If it matters to you, ask ahead of time about air conditioners and TVs in the room. We did not care...

This is my 2nd time staying at Logwood Inn. I am so impressed with this B&B. A magnificent log home, beautifully decorated, spotless rooms, a great breakfast, and most of all, the Innkeeper, Miles is so wonderful, charming, very accomodating and will make your stay memorable! There is a fabulous river running in the backyard, the property is very well maintained, quiet, serene and close to all the "Four Corner" attractions. Down the road is a fabulous gourmet market where you can pick up things for dinner and a great wine selection. I can only say GREAT things about The Logwood inn. I will be back!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent lodging!!!!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are excellent!!!!

Logwood B&B is an excellent place to relax & replenish! My husband and I extremely enjoyed our surroundings there. After a yummy breakfast provided by Miles we strolled by the water in the back yard while soaking in the beautiful landscaping. Our bed was comfy and the suite was very clean. Logwood is a must if you are in the Durango area!

First, their on line reservation system didn't work and I had to leave a message on their number. I did get a reservation ebentually and arrived between 4-7. The buildings are all log homes. The grounds are beautiful and the deck and common areas are nice. Our room looked like something out of Twin Peaks. I don't know where guests got AC, we got a fan that sounded like it was going to fall on us. The room was tiny and the bathroom minuscule. If you do go there check what room you have.

The quiche, with strawberries cut up with a few blueberries was OK but I wondered where the rest of he meal was. We were in Durango for a wedding and then leaving for another spot. We didn't wait for breakfast the second day as they don't serve until 8:30 (sharp!) That's a bit late for anyone traveling or hiking. We were on the road by 7:00 am and stopped along the way.

The B&B is for sale with price reduced. A new owner will need to do major renovations in some rooms to make this a half way decent place to stay. The part of the lodge that we were in is in a time warp. (Never did see the inn keeper. A young girl checked us in and a "cook" did breakfast, I guess the owner has been at it too long and it tired.)

We quickly discovered why this B&B gets lots and lots of satisfied happy repeat customers! The total experience was just great. Peaceful, quiet, and a wonderful wrap around porch with a stream running through the back. Next time I'm in the Durango, CO area I'll be one of those repeat customers and staying here again. This B&B is located just north of Durango. And if you're planning on doing the famous Durango to Silverton Narrow Gauge Train, this B&B is very near the Rockwood Station pick up spot where you can make prior arrangements with the train to be picked up and thus avoid all the hassles of parking and boarding in downtown Durango. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am. Breakfasts are family style with everyone sitting at a long table. Miles, the "innkeeper" was just plain awesome! He bent over backwards to make our two nights spent there an absolute pleasure. Out of 5 possible points, we give him a 6. For example, I tend to wake up pretty early (really early) each morning and so Miles taught me how to use B&B Bunn coffee maker so that I could have my coffee as soon as I woke up at the crack of dawn. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and odor-free. Fine King-size bed! Located in the mountains outside of Durango, 11 and a half months of the year, having an air conditioner isn't even an issue, so I can't speak to that.
