“Really nice”

We've been travelling across the country for the last two weeks, experiencing all the range of hotels, including high. This is hands down the best place we've stayed at. The room was new, clean, stocked with all the amenities you can immagine. The owner is super kind and welcoming, you feel pampered from the moment you walk in. Great breakfest, relaxing garden.
It's not in town, but a very short drive. Definitely worth it.

Our plans changed at the last minute and on the way to Durango, with spotty internet along the way. We managed to get a connection long enough to find a place that had a vacancy on a Friday night. Because of the spotty reception, I didn't have to a chance to explore the website or reviews, I called and they actually had an opening, so I booked it. What a pleasant surprise. When I talked to her over the phone to make the reservation, she told us we'd be arriving just in time for cocktail hours. We did arrive just in time for the cocktail hour, where she served wine, beer and martini's (as much as you wanted to drink) plus homemade snacks (brie cheese with chili jelly). Always available (day and night) were chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and some other homemade goodie). Susan, the owner, was very welcoming. The place has been newly renovated and smelled it, but not overwhelming. She recommend a few places to eat in Durango, a short drive away, based on what we liked to eat, The room we had was very spacious and the bathroom was amazing. All the linens were top-notch quality with robes available. Near the front door was a large display rack with brochures on things to do in the area. There was a hot tub outside for guests to use, tho we didn't have time to use it. Tables and chairs in the back yard to sit and enjoy the fresh mountain air as well as Adirondack chairs. Would definitely stay there again if we are ever in the area.

Susan was the best host! She is a wonderful hostess and was well prepared for us with wine, margaritas, beer and munchies! Her breakfast was beautiful and scrumptious. The room we had was so luxurious! The bed was awesome and comfy. And the bathroom?! It had a jet tub big enough for two! Susan has done a wonderful redecorating job! So modern, clean, comfy and relaxing! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

That's the best way to describe our family's amazing stay at this wonderful B&B, from the gourmet breakfast spreads to impeccably detailed and sumptuous rooms to the evening happy-hour margaritas, hors d'oeuvres and bakery delights. There are so many special touches you lose count, and proprietor Susan and her staff are experts at pampering you at every turn. They were so accommodating and wonderful with our teen-aged children, and those of our friends who stayed there with us. We stayed a week, and could have stayed for months. This impeccably restored 100-year-old farmhouse is like a dream come true, with no amenity forgotten. This is a must-stay location for anyone traveling to Durango, five-star lodging that's definitely worth every penny for both families and couples. It's so close and convenient to Durango, Mesa Verde and other area attractions, but you'd never know it when you sit on the patio in the evening sipping on a delicious libation and enjoy the quiet and grandeur of the surrounding green glens. We will definitely recommend this slice of heaven to all our friends.

The Canyon Creek room is pet-friendly, on the lower level with easy access to the spacious grounds. Even though we weren't travelling with pets, we took that room at the end of the building with its own shaded patio and view of the downsloping yard to the dry creek. It was quiet, and there was no evidence that pets had stayed in the room. The room was spacious with a king-sized bed, queen sleeper couch, Keurig coffee maker, frig, and two-headed walk-in shower. We had dinner (carry-out from Himalayan Café downtown) on the shaded patio. The Heidi's raspberry red chile jam with brie and bread was a fantastic treat at happy hour, and hanging out with the other guests on the big patio was lots of fun. Breakfast was lovingly made and served--breakfast burritos, potatoes and fresh fruit, excellent coffee. Even though the creek was almost completely dry, there were plenty of birds to watch and hear. Add a country road to amble down in the evening, if one desires, and it's a beautiful, natural, comfortable getaway. Plus you're just off the road heading to the Colorado Trail, multiple mountain passes, and Silverton. A lovely spot just a few miles west of town. Bravo to the proprietor!

Room Tip: Canyon Creek room was spacious, quiet and pet-friendly on lower floor.

I stayed here with my teenage daughter. We stayed in one of the smaller suites. There was more than enough space for us and our things. The room, bedding, bathroom and finishes were so luxurious, and the owner so accommodating, we felt absolutely pampered. So many special touches!
I was a little worried due to some of the older negative reviews, but a new owner (thank you Susan!) took over, and did a complete renovation in the Fall of 2013. If you look at the newer reviews, you can tell how amazing it is.
The location is very convenient to Durango, only about 12 minutes from the train and restaurants. It took longer to find parking than to get downtown. Susan had recommendations for things to do and places to eat. She even made reservations for us.
I am hoping my daughter decides to go to the local college (the reason for the visit) so we can come back often....

We were very fortunate to find this comfy bed and breakfast. Located in the mountains, surrounded by trees, but still close to downtown Durango and other attractions. Susan, the proprietor, was extremely gracious and accommodating. No detail or amenity was over- looked. We actually looked forward to the hosted breakfasts and evening receptions. Our stay was so memorable that we've already made plans to return next year!

Room Tip: All the rooms are unique with their own personality. It's a smaller property so book early.
