If I could magically create what I consider to be a perfect B&B, the Apple Orchard Inn would come very, very close. The setting is charming. You drive through an actual apple orchard to reach the main house, but its well worth the few extra dollars to stay in one of the charming purpose-built cottages that are scattered about the property. These spacious, immaculate cottages offer comfort and privacy and great baths with whirlpool tubs. Every little thing has been thought of inside, down to magazines to read and CD's provided to play. The porch swings are a great place to relax and watch the ducks and resident dog play on the beautiful landscaped property, complete with pond and babbling brooks. The patio, kitchen and living rooms in the main house are a great place for breakfast and the afternoon drinks and snacks for the guests. What really makes this place shine however are the hosts, John and Celeste. I consider myself a normally shy person and don't always warm to conversations with strangers. But Celeste made me, and from what I observed others too, feel comfortable and welcome without going overboard. The atmosphere created every morning at breakfast and every afternoon for complimentary wine and snacks was one of the highlights of the 3 days we spent here. Celeste's breakfasts were outstanding. I've travelled all over Europe and the western U.S., and this is one of the top places I've stayed at.
