We stayed at the Apple Orchard Inn for 5 nights. We stayed in one of the separate cottages. Our only complaint was the feather bed. This is a first class place. Breakfasts were great. Afternoon snacks with homemade cookies and wine and beer was wonderful after a day of hiking. The gardens and patio area are beautiful. We paid extra and had a private dinner prepared by Celeste. It was a great meal. This was in a good location for exploring Mesa Verde National Park. John handled our reservation and tickets for the Durango to Silverton Steam train and it worked out well with a special pick up and drop off location. Celeste took care of our dinner reservations in town and had good advice about the restaurants. John and Celeste run a top of the line Bed and Breakfast. Rowdy, the dog, was fun.

Our second visit. As previous reviewers have commented, the house, cottages, and gardens are immaculate. The breakfasts are superb. What makes this place so special ? - the hosts, Celeste and John. You come as guests and leave as friends. We will be back !

John and Celeste are wonderful hosts. Another B "& B that had no vacancy called and we were able to stay with them for 2 nights. Fantastic Breakfasts. Park like landscaping which
was so relaxing. Large patios for diining or just relaxing.
Beautiful interior . Neat and extremely clean. Very comfortable bed. A very delightful stay for us Texans.

If I could magically create what I consider to be a perfect B&B, the Apple Orchard Inn would come very, very close. The setting is charming. You drive through an actual apple orchard to reach the main house, but its well worth the few extra dollars to stay in one of the charming purpose-built cottages that are scattered about the property. These spacious, immaculate cottages offer comfort and privacy and great baths with whirlpool tubs. Every little thing has been thought of inside, down to magazines to read and CD's provided to play. The porch swings are a great place to relax and watch the ducks and resident dog play on the beautiful landscaped property, complete with pond and babbling brooks. The patio, kitchen and living rooms in the main house are a great place for breakfast and the afternoon drinks and snacks for the guests. What really makes this place shine however are the hosts, John and Celeste. I consider myself a normally shy person and don't always warm to conversations with strangers. But Celeste made me, and from what I observed others too, feel comfortable and welcome without going overboard. The atmosphere created every morning at breakfast and every afternoon for complimentary wine and snacks was one of the highlights of the 3 days we spent here. Celeste's breakfasts were outstanding. I've travelled all over Europe and the western U.S., and this is one of the top places I've stayed at.

After a three and a half hour drive through the New Mexican desert from Albuquerque, we were treated to a spectacular setting a few miles north of Durango: the Apple Orchard Inn! We can't say enough about the warm hospitality of the owners and the staff, the gourmet breakfasts, and the comfortable rooms! We stayed in one of the exquisite cottages on the property, and we had featherbeds, a gas fireplace (that was turned on with just a toggle switch, wonderful for a technophobe like me!), "rain" showers, and our very own hot tub...what could be better during the cool Colorado evenings! They have a well-deserved AAA four diamond award. Celeste and John Gardiner are doing all the right things...we recommend this place above all others! It is far and away the best B & B we have encountered, and we have traveled all over the country...
