Could 103 five-star reviews possibly be wrong? I am happy to report that for my two-night stay, the Apple Orchard inn lived up to its glowing reviews. My cottage was spacious, with a comfortable four-poster bed, a soft sofa, and good lighting. I particularly liked the front porch with swing, where I spent some relaxing early evening hours after a long hiking day. While John did his best to recommend Durango's restaurants, his own flower garden-duck pond setting was so pleasant that I ended up with a take-out dinner there (some other guests did, too). Our hosts were exceptional. John knew the Silverton train schedule better than the railroad employees did, and he alerted me to a possible problem with the railroad. Celeste went out of her way to tailor her gourmet breakfasts to individual tastes. Does any other inn offer a choice of waffles, lemon or whole-wheat buttermilk?
Thank you, Trip Advisor reviewers, for recommending this great place!
