Could 103 five-star reviews possibly be wrong? I am happy to report that for my two-night stay, the Apple Orchard inn lived up to its glowing reviews. My cottage was spacious, with a comfortable four-poster bed, a soft sofa, and good lighting. I particularly liked the front porch with swing, where I spent some relaxing early evening hours after a long hiking day. While John did his best to recommend Durango's restaurants, his own flower garden-duck pond setting was so pleasant that I ended up with a take-out dinner there (some other guests did, too). Our hosts were exceptional. John knew the Silverton train schedule better than the railroad employees did, and he alerted me to a possible problem with the railroad. Celeste went out of her way to tailor her gourmet breakfasts to individual tastes. Does any other inn offer a choice of waffles, lemon or whole-wheat buttermilk?
Thank you, Trip Advisor reviewers, for recommending this great place!

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We absolutely loved everything about our stay. From the romantic Fireside Cabin to the beautifully tended grounds, fresh baked cookies daily, deliciously filling breakfasts and our wonderful hosts John and Celeste. We couldn't have asked for anything more but maybe more time to spend there. We look forward to returning as we wouldn't stay anywhere else while visiting beautiful Durango!

What can I say! From the smell of freshly baked cookies upon our arrival to the smell of bacon and waffles cooking in the morning....UNBELIEVABLE! John and Celeste were top notch hosts. The property is fabulous. You have a choice of individual cabins or rooms in the main house. We chose the McIntosh room in the main house and thought it was huge and quiet. You can't go wrong with anything you choose. We enjoyed the pond, the ducks, the walking around the grounds, etc. Would stay there again in an instant. In fact, we're already planning for a longer trip through Colorado next year and will definitely stop at Apple Orchard Inn! Loved every minute!

We found Apple Orchard Inn on Trip Advisor and after reading the reviews decided to include it in our trip to Colorado. This really is a first class B&B. The beautiful setting that surrounds Apple Orchard is breathtaking. John and Celeste are fantastic hosts the breakfasts are cooked to perfection, Celeste is a great cook and speaks to everyone each morning to tailor make your breakfast for you. We stayed in the main house, there are also six individual cabins set in the grounds. You have a choice of eating at the patio in the garden on in the breakfast room. Celeste will also cook an evening meal for you if pre arranged.
This B&B has won several awards so would advise anyone considering staying here to book early especially during peak season.

“The best B&B we have stayed in”

Apple Orchard Inn

The Apple Orchard Inn was recommended to us by my sister, who had stayed there. The online photographs and description did not do justice to the beauty of the Inn and the grounds around it. The incredibly beautiful landscaping and burbling stream that runs through the property add to an already serene and tranquil setting. John and Celeste are gracious, unobtrusive hosts and go out of their way to ensure that their guests have a wonderful stay. Celeste's breakfasts are worth the stay in and off themselves and the afternoon happy hour makes a perfect excuse to sit out on the back patio and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. The ambient is accented by the sound of the Durango and Silverton train as it goes by, a wonderful, nostalgic sound that one hardly ever hears anywhere.
The rooms are beautiful, the beds as comfortable as home, and in a day, one feels as though they are guests in a home, not a "customers" in a business enterprise.
This is, without qualification, the nicest bed and breakfast inn we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many, from the Pacific Coast to the Carolinas. I would definitely call this a "destination" B&B since it worth the trip to stay there. The fact that it is in Durango, a wonderful city with much to do and see, and nestled at the base of the San Juan Mountains, just sweetens the overall package.
For value, we would rate it tops.
