“too much for too little”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

the rooms are small, but very well equipped, this is an old motel, but remodeled ok! the location is a little far from town, the bed was hard and the pillows were like rocks, for the money its not a great value! they're very proud of their rooms! they will only give you a decent rate which is still high if they're not full!

We booked 3 rooms and each room was uniquely decorated! The owner was very nice and helpful to direct us to great local hangouts! The rooms were clean and beds comfortable! Great location - no pool for kids but we did not require one. Highly recommend !!!

We were on the road with two dogs. The Caboose staff was very friendly and made no issue about our dogs. The room was adorable, and clean. New paint and decor and a nice tv. The half kitchen set up was super helpful.

Cons: the location was a little away from downtown, if that's where you want to eat.

We just returned home from visiting Durango, Colorado. During our visit, we stayed at the Caboose Motel. I just have to say that it was the most enjoyable experience ever! The room was clean, decorated in a very homey way and we slept on the most COMFORTABLE bed ever. Everyone from the motel was so friendly and courteous. My husband came down with the stomach flu and we had to extend our stay an extra day and everyone was so helpful and accommodating to us. Anything we needed, they were happy to provide with a smile. The owner even came by several times to check on the "patient" I don't know of any motel that would care so much about their guests. We highly recommend staying at this charming motel.

We were up in Durango last weekend for a Wedding (June 9 &10 2013). We enjoyed our stay at the Caboose Motel, Teri the manager was great, this place is very clean with comfortable beds, we loved the cabana area, as it has lots of shade, a great place to socialize with others in our group. We highly recommend this Motel for anyone visiting this area.

Don't let the dated look of the motel or the rooms stop you from staying here. I commented to my husband almost immediately that the room looked and felt cleaner than our house (I have left hotels and motels after walking in the room). Our bed was comfortable, the sheets were so soft and the staff had made sure the room was warm for our arrival. Terri, the manager, was great at providing suggestions for places to eat, enjoying the town even great places outside of town. We spent three nights at the hotel and could not have asked for a better experience or friendlier staff, including the friendly but not intrusive border collie, Rockie, that lives at the motel.

We plan to return in the fall and this is exactly where we will be staying.

We stumbled on to this motel after a long drive, and were very pleased. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfy, the staff made us feel very welcome as well. This is very close to the Durango/ Silverton train which is what we had planned We are already planning our next trip and will be staying here again.
