The exterior is not particularly impressive – the landscaping consists of the parking lot – but the rooms are really quite nice. Mine had a balcony, which looked out on a fairly boring street – BUT it also looked out on the amazing mountains around Durango, and the sky where you could watch those Rocky Mountain thunderstorms form.
It’s very close to the train depot, which most people would consider a plus, but that means in the morning (8 to 9-ish) and the evening (roughly 5 to 7) you have a lot of train whistling going on. It didn’t bother me at all at those hours. It’s also within easy walking distance of most of the downtown restaurants and shops, and a short walk to the paved walking/bike path along the river. Downtown Durango can be pretty pricey so I thought their $115 rate was excellent.
No elevator, no guest computer. The continental breakfast was OK but minimal (bagels/toast/donuts/OJ/coffee), and there’s very little space to eat it in (just a small counter in the lobby).
