Description: Steamworks Brewing Co. Opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. A favorite watering hole for locals and visitors alike, the brewpub has much more to offer than award-winning craft beer. Known as a town meeting place, Steamworks enjoys a bustling, fun environment. Steamworks' culinary program is unmatched in the region in both breadth and quality of offerings. The "gastropub" fare includes regionally-raised meats and sustainable seafood. Healthy salads, delicious pizzas, spicy Southwestern-style dishes, and vegetarian & gluten-free offerings provide something for everyone who's hungry. The Steam Engine Lager is "arguably the best American - Style Amber Lager in the world" as it has garnered four Gold Medals, a Silver and a Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) over the years and also has taken a Silver Medal at the World Beer Cup (WBC). Steamworks has won a total of twelve GABF medals, and two WBC medals. The brewpub maintains up to 18 styles of beer on tap.

“Busy, noisy atmosphere, great food and good times.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

I'm not a brew pub kinda gal but when our friends just couldn't leave after a few beers, we stayed for dinner and totally enjoyed it. The Cajun boil has to be the signature dish, but when I suggested I didn't need that much food, our waiter was happy to bring just the crab and some potatoes. Both of which were terrific. It is great fun to have your meal dumped out on the table in front of you. No worries about where to leave the shells etc. The whole table is covered in butcher paper and everything is simply wrapped up in it a the end. Don't come here if you want a quiet intimate evening, but great for a group that just wants to let go a bit after a day's cycling.

“Surprisingly good empanadas in Durango.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2010

I arrived in Durango on business and wanted a beer and some grub. I couldn't believe when I pulled up to the bar at the Steamboat Brewing Co. that they served empanadas. My family is from Argentina and I love good empas. These were fantastic. So good, that I took a picture of them and posted them on Facebook. It turns out that the chef had visited Argentina and taken cooking classes there. Well done!

“Good hamburger and OK beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2010

Had a great hamburger and OK beer. Maui pizza also good with a sweet crust. My boys liked the house rootbeer. Good atmosphere with a capable wait staff. If you are looking for a loud college crowd, this may be your place!

“Great beer and good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2010

Great beer and good food - what more can you want? You may/will have to wait on weekends, but you can grab free peanuts at the bar. If there is a band playing the bar area can get very loud.

“Quality of food was a great surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2010

The name of this place gives you some first impressions: brew pub. You'd think it was just a beer place. While that is true, it is much more.

Very family friendly (they give children sidewalk chalk and allow them to become artists on the floor INSIDE the restaurant). You can also get a basket of peanuts and just dump the shells on the floor!

When the food came out it was a very nice shocker. It was presented VERY nicely and tasted great! Not only that - the price was very reasonable.

Definitely a suprise where the food is much more than the environment would indicate.
