“Great Staff, Great Value AMAZING Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011

Found the Knights Inn day off while looking for hotels online that were dog friendly. The staff here was great and very informative after we told them that the visitor center was closed on the weekends. Room was clean and had great little freebie packets (my boyfriend love the razor that was included. We weren't looking for luxury when we chose this but a clean, quiet and cheap place to stay. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. I really appreciate the dog friendliness.

Room Tip: Plan in advance

This was a great motel. Old fashioned and my room was a single level. Very clean, the staff was helpful and they also left plenty of toiletries in the room.

Room Tip: Ask for the single level room

Kind of hate to give this review since all the others are positive. All I can really say is the improvements haven't quite made it to room 106. Black mold all over the place in the tile grout. Continental breakfast of donuts and coffee. I guess we had the option to change rooms, but we were so tired from an all day trip we just crashed. If you get room 106 just ask if it has been renovated yet.

We made reservations for our visit in July in February. At this time, the rate was $48 a night. When we arrived,we were given the smaller room off a connecting room which was only slightly larger than a closet. There was no room for our luggage and the bed was small and hard. The hotel was not full,so we don't understand why we were given this tiny room other than we only paid $48.Why should we have a small room because we had the foresight to book early? On the up side, they give you little bags with toothpaste, razor and other small items you might have forgotten. The hotel staff was friendly and the motel is near a trolley stop but NOT near the train station.Overall,we enjoyed our stay in Durango and the train but disappointed in the room we were given.

Disregard the early reviews written when the Alpine Inn was under a different management. As the most recent reviews show, the current managers are providing an excellent level of customer service. The rooms were comfortably large and clean; laundry facilities were available also. The motel is at the north end of town, an advantage or disadvantage, depending on how centrally located one wished to be; however, the free trolley stops within yards of the motel--and the tourist area of Durango is an easy, if rather long, walk away. Due to its location, it was exceptionally quiet. It's unfortunate that rating under the old mangement will keep this motel from showing up better in a comparison with other motels.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but the rooms are a decent value (for Durango) - we paid about $90 for 2 queen beds. The staff is helpful and there is coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby, plus snacks and a limited continental breakfast. The rooms have a microwave and fridge and were fairly clean except for stains on some of the chairs.

A young couple has just (March 2010) taken over management of the Alpine Inn, and bit by bit they are making it a comfortable, pleasant bargain of a place to stay. Rooms are small but clean, location is great, in walking distance of supermarket, restaurants, hiking, Durango Recreation Center, Animas River. Best of all is the cheerful, helpful attitude of the new managers. The Alpine Inn may be average now, but they're determined to make it "Very Good." Try it, you'll like it.
