“Great skiing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

Durango Mountain had great snow the day we skied there. The views are beautiful. The resort is a quick 30-minute drive from where we stayed in Durango. And, the best thing, there are NO crowds!

I was quite surprised how good this mountain was. a large amount of blue and black runs with good snow and well covered. well marked. would definitely go back.

“Purgatory ski trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

The ski area had not received significant snow for 3 weeks but the skiing was very good with groomed packed powder. lift lines were minimal.

“Fabulous family vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

We hadn't been skiing for over 10 years. Took the kids for their first trip. Had a blast!
Conditions were great! Everyone was super friendly and it wasn't an uptight place to spend a week. The ski instructors (especially "Tex" and "Chris") were awesome. My kids learned to ski in just a few lessons and they were so excited!! My husband and I also took lessons and "Al" was fabulous and very patient. Very quick lift lines even on a holiday week.

Only a couple of negatives and they all involved the reservations/customer service side...our original booking for lessons and rentals and lift tickets was mishandled and we were overcharged. It was fixed, but it was a pain (had to shlep to the reservations desk, stand in line...etc..). Also, we lacked the foresight for how many lessons the kids would need and just added them daily (more trips to the desk for the tickets, more waiting in line when you want to be on the slopes) so we missed out on some packages that would have saved us some money and we probably paid too much (plus the fact that it was New Year's week...)
We were given the wrong information about our rentals and told that they would need to be switched out after the lessons (because they were part of a package). We hauled all of the equipment back as told and then were told by the rental shop that this was not true; and we were to keep the skis. It was just annoying when we are all bundled up, heavy ski boots, tired kids...you get the picture...

Valerie was very kind about apologizing and fixing these errors and accommodating us, but I was annoyed at having to deal with them at all. I do think that some of the services should have been discounted given the amount of money we spent (over $2000) and the inconvenience.

Snow tubing was a BLAST!

Snow mobile trip was also a lot of fun!

Ride into town is about 30 minutes each way.

We stayed at Angelhaus and it was just a short walk across the parking lot to get to the lift.

We tried ski biking for the first time this year, and we LOVE IT!!!! We easier than skiing, and much less stress on the legs and knees, and just as much fun!!
