This was the worst lodging I've ever encountered. There was no AC and virtually no ventilation (took for granted when making reservations).
Temperature was in the 90's, no fans provided, only one opening to the outside in the condo (screened door to the deck), the bedroom on the second floor (loft) had no windows/ventilation. There was a large party outside the deck in the parking lot having a barbecue (lot's of smoke and smell entering our unit through screen door). Also poor security, as it was necessary to leave the door open to get any ventilation and anyone could easily gain access by climbing up on the deck and cutting through the screen door. The general condition of the unit was run down. There was a big hole in the kitchen wall and the carpeting and upholstery were dirty and worn; appeared that the owners were not maintaining the unit. The hallways outside the unit were also very dirty. When tried to use the telephone found that it was unplugged.
Upon plugging in discovered why - it would not stop ringing. The place appeared to be staffed by teenage kids and there was no staff on duty overnight (so any problems and the guests were on their own). This "resort" should be a last resort for anyone needing lodging in the Durango area.

The place was run down. The housekeeping was horrible, there was trash in the entryways during our entire visit. There were globs of "something" still in the microwave. Do not expect a view just beause you are 28 miles from town, some of the units look out at the other units. The restaurant, shops and bar all look as though they have been closed for years, even though the ads read these are available. The rail on our deck fell off! The desk clerk could not even offer another unit without and additional charge. This was the worst place we stayed durning our entire trip.

We drove up from Houston in 2 easy days. The drive was good all the way. We stayed 5 days and enjoyed every day. The condo was great with a fireplace that looked good and keep us warm. The pool and hot tubs were great. Sat in the outside tubs and enjoyer the view. Also the skiing was great too. E.S. Houston

I stayed at Cascade Village with my family, wife & 2 teenage kids. We are from Dallas, Texas.. Flew to Durango direct on American Airlines (using miles accumulated from work travel).

The location and size of the resort was great, about a two minute shuttle ride from the ski area.

The Resort was great with facilities for the kids including large indoor heated pool,... The staff had activites planned every day that ranged from Snowmobile tours, guided snow shoeing, sledding, dog-sledding, ice skating on the natural pond which is lit up at night! The pond is right in front of the main lodge building ut front with pick up ice hockey (the Resort has rentals and provided us with sticks and pucks and goals)

On the Saturday evening during our stay they had a large bonfire out by the pond! It was incredible, they provided hot chocolate, and the moon light and stars were incredible. Don't worry, the heat from the bonfire kept everyone toasty.

The Ski Shop, is great, best prices compared with the Ski area (about 30% cheaper), and has all new shaped skis (and a snowboard for our son).

Also, a game room (kept the kids busy)& Small store (basic food items, if you want full groceries buy in town at Albertsons or other large grocery stores to save $$.

The Cascade Grill Restaurant was great.. Beauitful views, great atmosphere, and a nice large fire in the grill area.

If you would like any more details please email me.. We look forward to going back.
