“Plenty of Hiking and Camping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

The San Juan National Forest is a great place to do some outdoor activities. The forest has plenty of camping spots for hikers, with or without horses. The Mountains in the surrounding area are quite spectacular to see. Be sure to devote quite some time here as it would take weeks to see everything the San Juan National Forest has to offer!

“Silverton train ride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Took the family on the Durango-Silverton train ride through the San Juan forest. We were in the open gondola. The morning light was great for photography. The scenery is great. We want to go back for hiking.

“Hiking in the mountains!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

The San Juan National Forest is 1.8 million acres of fantastic wilderness with snow-capped mountains, meadows of wildflowers, mountain streams, and occasional glimpses of wildlife. It is know as the "land of many uses." One can enjoy hiking on the many trails, camping, picnicking, mountain biking, horseback riding, kayaking, and fishing. The Bureau of Land Management in Durango provides maps of the trails and very useful information about how best you can enjoy recreation in the forest.

“Spectacular San Juans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

This could be one of my favorite places in the country. Take the Million Dollar Highway and your hiking shoes... don't forget your cameras! So much to explore, so little time. I hope to spend more time around Ouray and the surrounding mountain passes. SImply spectacular.
