“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

This is a very nice RV park. It is very clean. The staff is large with rotating shifts. They were all very helpful. We had a bit of a kerfuffle with the reservations, but they cleared it up nicely. Our site was large. If you are tent camping, expect about 10 feet. Not enough room to swing a sleeping bag. But the hookup sites are fine. The pool is nice, but with only a little shade for sitting. There is a small supply of store items, which is helpful. The wifi worked close to the office only. But overall, it was a great place.

Great place. Good location and good size spots. Enjoyed hearing the steam train go by in the morning and afternoon and great spot to take pics of it too. Easy to get too and lots of extras like a dog area and a swimming pool.

I was a little disappointed with all the reviews for the campgrounds in Durango being so close to the road etc etc and so happy that I took the trouble to search a little further out as this was a great place in a great setting. The staff were really friendly and interested in us as 'Brits'. The best wifi is on the verrandah outside the shop - oh dear, say some people, yes it wasnt very good in the RV, but it was the best thing as the verrandah is very pretty with loads of flowers, comfortable seats, everyone says hello and talks to you and there are humming birds around the outside feeders - wow! The facilities were terrific and they have a lovely big field for a dog park. In the morning at about 8.30 you hear the steam train pass by at the bottom of the valley. Fabulous place - really cannot recommend it enough.

This is a really nice RV park with an awesome staff. They greeted us at the entrance, escorted us to our site and let us register after setting up. This is a great service as it eliminates all the confusion and waiting at check-in.

The park has a lot of grass, trees, flowers and shade. The pull-thru sites are large enough for big Motorhomes/5th wheels and they have plenty of overflow parking for trailers, toads and trucks.

We found the location to be convenient for visiting both Durango and Silverton.

The staff was more than accommodating when we needed to leave a day early. We would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I just spent 5 days at Alpen Rose RV Park, and we were thoroughly pleased! When we first arrived, a very friendly greeter, Dick, met us in his golf cart just as we were pulling in, found our name on the reservation sheet, and escorted us to our site. We were in a wonderful shady site. Everyone on the staff was super friendly and welcoming, more than willing to answer any questions and help out in any way they could. The grounds are well kept, with lovely flowers greeting you as you drive through the entrance, there's a huge dog park where dogs can run free off leash, big play area for kids and games, covered area with lots of tables and a bbq grill, and an all you can eat breakfast. It's an easy drive into Durango--we don't pull a toad, so we would unhook each day and drive to town, but this was very convenient. Largest laundry facility of any RV park we've been to in 3 months on the road, shady courtyard patio between laundry and store. Wifi is somewhat slow in the evenings when more folks are on the internet, but no more so than many RV parks with the same situation. All in all, just a wonderful place to stay--wish we could have stayed longer! We camped in a motorhome.

Great staff, lots of activities, great pool, dog walking area, awesome outside cafe breakfasts, pot lucks, close to town, shops and restaraunts. The train ride is in town. The hand glider rides are across the street. So much to do and see. A great place to stay as you rv or travel.

Sites were nice, but advertised amenities were lacking. The "trout pond" is little more than a scum pond and a sign says you are not allowed to release fish but must pay $4 for each caught. Needless to say, no one fishes. They also advertised (and a large sign stated) pancake breakfasts--not so. Temperature in the high 70s, but the advertised swimming pool was dry. And, like "john r" says--employees on golf carts are a constant intrusion. Finally, when my wife went to shower at 10:30am (we'd been told showers were closed from 11am to 1pm for cleaning) three men were at the door and gruffly told her she'd have to be out in 10 minutes. Needless to say, she turned around and came back to our RV.
