“Beautiful facility and friendly owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

We loved our two nights at O Bar O - the owners have thought of everything in the decoration!
The bed was amazing - and we wish we could have stayed longer. The only suggestion was to have bins for recycling (as we did cook a few of our meals).

Room Tip: I believe all rooms are fairly equal.

It can only be described as magical. The scenery is Mother Nature at her finest. Our cabin named the "Birdsnest" was cosy, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We are from Australia and don't get to experience snow in such a capacity, which made our stay all the more special. After a stressful day of driving in the snow, we were greeted with freshly baked snickerdoodle cookies from Mike, and Maria's hospitality was second to none, especially when she had to help us push the car because we had gotten stuck in the snow, twice!

This gorgeous piece of land has so much to offer, and sitting in the hot tub listening to the sound of the running river and birds, surrounded by snow filled mountains was certainly a highlight, but I must say the stars of the show were Pea Kiity, Peanut (cats) and Cooper the dog.
O-Bar-O should be a must do on anyones holiday list, it really felt like a home away from home for us, and we truly hope to return some day.
Thank you Maria and Mike for sharing this beautiful part of the world with us.

We spent 4 nights in this cozy cabin. The purpose of our trip was to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. The "stock the fridge" package with steaks and all the trimmings (plus homemade brownies) was perfect for our anniversary dinner. We visited the town of Durango only one day because of rain and snow. But, we enjoyed the peaceful setting and warmth of the cabin and did not mind staying in. We were very impressed with the furnishings and decorator touches. Our Bernese Mountain Dog loved romping in the snow and we took several hikes around the property. On the morning we left we were surprised to find not only was the snow plowed in the parking lot and driveway, but our car was swept clean of snow. Being from Phoenix we do not own a snow scraper!

Room Tip: If you are traveling with dogs choose the "Creekside" cabin. It has a private fenced yard...

Maria was so pleasant and helpful at checkin/checkout. The cabins are very comfortable and well equipped. Having Peanut and Crouton greet guests is always a plus! (Well behaved cats). The river flowing behind cabins is so relaxing to sit on deck and let sounds wash away daily stressors!

Fantastic...Fun...Clean beyond belief...incredible Location. In the wilderness on a beautiful small river yet only 15 minutes from old town Durango with many great restaurants, shops & of course, the world famous Durango/Silverton Train Trip. Reluctant to say more. I know it's selfish & impossible but, we
would like to keep this beautiful place to ourselves. We have traveled & lived all over the world & this is an extraordinary peaceful & totally relaxing place to stay. BRAVO to the owners. We have already made reservations May. Thanks for wonderful time.

I don't think we could have found a better place to stay in Durango! It was the most beautiful setting by the river, and a cozy place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. We REALLY enjoyed the heated mattress pad on those cold nights. After hiking Mesa Verde, the hot tub was very nice. Mike and Maria were excellent hosts, We can hardly wait for our next visit to O-Bar-O.

This was our second straight year to stay at the O-Bar-O Cabins and I can assure you it will not be the last. We brought my parents up to Durango to see the Fall colors and this beautiful setting along the river. Maria and Mike were very hospitable and remembered us and our Yorkies from last year. They went out of their way to help us choose the right cabin for my parents and make our stay both memorable and enjoyable.

This is such a beautiful setting with all cabins backing up to the river. Dad was content to just sit along the river with the pups enjoying the cool weather, peace and quiet. Our cabin was just what we were looking for - rustic but cozy, private and far enough away (but not too far) from the hustle and bustle of town. The fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, nice dining area and comfortable living room made for very pleasant and relaxing evenings. This was the perfect vacation getaway.

We would highly recommend the O-Bar-O Cabins and would not stay anywhere else when we visit Durango. Maria and Mike - we'll see you next year!
