“Great steak and wine, fun service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2015 NEW

Joined two colleagues for a casual business dinner and really enjoyed the evening. Prices are higher than I like to pay for dinner, but they are on par for restaurants in Durango. I ordered the filet with mash potatoes and it was awesome. Service by Ryan was prompt and friendly. Home made ice cream for dessert was terrific. We ate on the patio upstairs - covered but still with nice views of the mountains nearby. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

“Love the outdoor area on the roof!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2015

We stopped in to have a drink and a snack, and were lucky enough that the roof area was open. We ordered their specialty drinks (which were very good) and shared a warm beet salad. OMG! This is absolutely the best beet salad I have ever had. We probably messed up not getting the large, but it was still plenty to share between two.

Our waitress was charming, and we enjoyed chatting with her about a lot of different things.

Definitely will be back during warm weather to take advantage of the roof again.

“Happy hour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2015

My wife and I only go to the happy hour for a ridiculously good price for special food and drinks. It's an early happy hour though. best burger in town for quality and price. Calamari is superb. $2 draft beer during happy hour.

“Nice but too kid friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2015

My brother sent me a gift certificate for this restaurant after researching online for a nice place in Durango. The reviews were very good and we were excited to try Eolus. We arrived for our reservation and were seated promptly. We liked the looks of the restaurant and the ambience. We ordered the Calamari appetizer. The sauce was good but the Calamari, though crisp as advertised, were very overcooked. I commented to the waitress that the dish was overcooked and the response was, "hmmm". Okay, onto the salads. They were the best part of the meal. The warm beet with goat cheese and pine nuts was wonderful. Our entrees left a lot to be desired. My pan roasted duck had soft not crisp skin. It looked bland. The duck was cooked to my temperature but the grayness of the color of the skin was unappealing. My duck was on a bed of arugula which was on top of a squash risotto. The flavors of the meal were good if I could have eaten each item individually. Since the food was stacked on the plate, each bite tasted the same. My arugula was dressed with an orange fennel vinaigrette with figs, all of which were lost in the combination of flavors on the plate. My husband ordered the crab stuffed chicken. I tasted it and the first bite tasted really fishy. His chicken was cooked well but the crab stuffing wasn't very good. The truffle sauce was tasty but the mac and cheese is the same as on the kids menu. Desserts were good: one was their take on Bananas Foster and the Fried Donuts (beignets) we crisp and light.

We had just gotten our entrees when a group of 13 were seated right next to us. We didn't realize that the restaurant offered an extensive kids menu. The youngest of the kids threw silverware on the floor, banged the table and was noisy. Another child, probably far too young to be in a restaurant, cried loudly a lot. What was to be a nice quiet dinner in a nice restaurant turned out rather badly. Now we know. Comments about the food not quite being prepared right go unheeded. When I told our waitress about the duck skin lacking crispness her comment was the she liked it crisp, too.

Guess we won't be going back there anytime soon.

“OKAY”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2015

This restaurant wants to be something it is not. Prices are high, service is so-so and food is good, but not great. Good local place, but not as "high and mighty" as they perceive themselves to be.
