“Wonderful private campground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Just attended the San Juan Brewfest in Durango, 46 breweries, 100 beers to sample [responsibly]. We had 2 travel trailers next to each other for Fri. and Sat. nights and really enjoyed our stay. Big trees, very clean restrooms and the added bonus of the Durango & Silverton train going through the campground twice in the morning and twice late afternoon. The campground is also on the free trolley stop running every 20 minutes right on time; 11 minutes got us to the park in Durango. We know one of the reviews wasn't supportive but we found our stay, and welcome, very enjoyable. We'll definitely be back.

We chose this campground despite the negative reviews because of the free shuttle to town that stops right at the entrance. We didn't tow a car and taking the RV to town all the time would have been a drag. The shuttle worked perfectly fine, and you can even take your bike on it (up to two bikes per shuttle) - the road from the campground to the trailheads is too busy to bike with a child.
The campground itself was very well kept and clean with nice views. The owners were really nice to us - nothing like what some of the other reviewers mentioned. The wifi worked flawlessly. We didn't use any of the facilities so I can't comment on them. The old train running through the campground was fun to watch, though the first one did come early, at 8 in the morning.

Tent camped two nights and we were very pleased. Nice grassy tent spots, clean showers nice staff.
Very close to downtown and the free trolley stop at the campground is a plus. Would definitely stay here again.

Needed a campground for two nights as close to Durango as possible without having a tow vehicle. Had read less than favorable review of United but chose it for location.
I was thrilled to find out that a free trolley would pick us up and deliver us back right in front of the cg. The staff was very friendly, my site looked out at a pretty valley, the showers were clean and the cg was quiet.
I recommend this cg if you want a pleasant visit in Durango.

We chose this RV park for two reasons
1: The train comes through the RV park it was sensational and my children were thrilled
2. The free trolley stop at the RV park (We chose not to bring a vehicle with us on this trip it was nice not to have to figure out where to park in town just hop on the trolley)

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay the park is easy to get into however the spots are a bit tight but we were able to park with a 40 foot motorhome (4 slides) and small dirt bike trailer! The entire park is well kept and very clean! There were beautiful views from the RV park! We will absolutely stay here again :)

Although our actual campsite was pleasant, upon check-in the owners at the front desk were extremely rude and unfriendly. I was essentially accused of trespassing upon attempting to pay for my campsite minutes after arriving. I am a responsible person who has camped all over the country and has never experienced such an angry, unprofessional exchange upon arrival at a campground. The bath/shower rooms were also locked and very difficult to access with their code system in place. We will not stay here again!

We've stayed here before - and will continue to return! The campground is close enough to bike to town - or take the trolley. (Trolley stop right across the street) Clean facilities, warm showers. Pool is small but still nice. Another cool thing is that the Durango to Silverton Train goes right through the campground! The kids love it. The tent sites are nice and grassy - lots of shade - and picnic tables are provided.
