The Red Mountain Grill is in a convenient location just a couple of blocks away from the outlet mall and right off the freeway.
The decor is fun and eclectic with dozens of metal star lanterns hanging from the super-high vaulted ceilings. There is a beautiful stone sink in the bathroom. It is worth a potty trip to check it out. The best feature, though, is the tall 3-story windows with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains from almost every table. Be sure to request a table next to a window for the best view.
Service was friendly but a bit slow. We arrived starving, and it took about 45 minutes to get food to our table after ordering.
I had the pistachio-crusted trout (about $17) with grapes and lemon butter sauce and the mashed potatoes. It was very tasty and light, but there was not much sauce on the fish, and without the sauce, it was a bit bland. The mashed potatoes are fantastic- very buttery and flavorful!
My husband had a seafood pasta dish (about $18) which was rich in shrimp and scallops and had a pretty good, creamy sauce. Nothing to dream about, but it was satisfying.
My 4 year-old son had the grilled cheese from the kid's menu (about $6), and I snatched a little bite. It was a better grilled cheese than he has had at any other restaurant. Speaking of kids, it was a very child-friendly atmosphere.
We look forward to eating here again and bringing friends.
