I found the Ritz Carlton on Expedia and got a weekend deal, including Valet parking, for a little over $200pn. This is a bit more than we would normally spend for a family of four, but it was at the end of our holiday and I thought it would be nice to finish with a little luxury. I was slightly worried that we may feel out of place in this high end hotel, however, nothing could be further from the truth.
We arrived well before the check in time but this presented absolutely no problem, unlike some hotels we had visited during our holiday. We were welcomed courteously and were in our room within 10 minutes.
As expected, the facilities were good quality, spotlessly clean and very well presented. It is centrally located just a couple of blocks walk away from the 16th street mall where we found shops, restaurants and street entertainment. It was also possible to walk to the state capital building, the park and Molly Brown's house.
However, what sets this hotel head and shoulders above it's competitors is it's impressive customer service. Wherever we went we were met by members of staff who smiled, opened doors and were not only polite, but who went out of their way to make us feel at home and not like a paying guest. We weren't just given directions to the pool, when we looked a little lost, a staff member broke off from their job and took us there. They offered a turn down service, which we declined, but they still gave us the chocolates anyway - a nice touch, as were the ice cold bottles of water when we went out in the car. And we had some really interesting conversations with staff who spent time chatting as though we were the only guests in the hotel.
If I had a niggle it would be that the $12.95 per day wi fi service was only for one device. With 2 teenagers in tow this could have been expensive but as it turned out we were given a credit on our room which meant we didn't have to pay.
So far I would have given it 4.9 out of 5 but had to revise this when the staff went the extra mile to help out 13 year old daughter who announced on arrival at Denver airport that she had left her Harry Potter Journal in the room. A frantic call to the hotel and a lovely lady in housekeeping found the book, refused our offer to pay to have it shipped home, and fedexed it to the UK free of charge. The result, one very happy 13 year old and 2 relieved parents. So I couldn't give this hotel any less than a 100% recommendation. If I could go back again tomorrow, I would.
