This hotel was not the best place to go for a good nights sleep. The people were pleasant enough, but the atmosphere was horrible. The smoking rooms are on the same floor as the non-smoking rooms and therefore everything reeks of smoke. The carpet has many bare spots and the walls inside the rooms are stained, especially around the air grate overhead. The cleaning staff doesn't really clean and you don't have to worry about them changing your sheets everyday. I left my nightgown in the bed and the bed was made with my gown in it. They book weekend parties at this Ramada so you hear loud music and people talking until 1am or so. If you want to sleep, DO NOT get a room on the first floor, because you will hear EVERYTHING! Security at this place was great! The couple next door to us decided to get into a domestic dispute at 3am and I called the front desk immediately. Within 30minutes they were kicked out and it was quiet again. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Stay outside of the city in a nicer place if you can!

  • Liked — The people were very attentive
  • Disliked — The place is just too rundown and too loud on weekends

this hotel does not deserve more than two stars rating. It is VERY old, and in need of some major renovation. While it wasn't absolutely dirty, you get the feeling that it needs a good scrubbing. Carpets need replacing, the elevator was scary (we took the steps after the first time), and the bathrooms really need an upgrade. Not even coffee in the lobby in the morning. Location is convenient to downtown, but not within walking distance. The neighborhood does not feel safe.

We left a parcel with the receptionist who said she could drop it off at Fedex for us. The parcel, containing a railway media (DVD) player, never arrived at its destination. We have tried to contact the hotel many times but get no response to our letters and emails. We have twice completed online report forms on the Denver police website, but had no response or feedback. We have had to pay $ 1100.00 for the lost item and cannot understand why our enquiries go unanswered.
We live in Botswana, Africa and it is not easy to communicate from here. We were tourists and had limited time, during heavy snow, to get to the Fedex office ourselves.

Reading the tripadvisor reviews almost made me cancel my reservation. But, I decided to give it a try anyhow. And, I'm glad I did. First of all, the neighborhood is not sketchy or scary -- it's urban. It's a few blocks from the State Capitol, and it's about a 5-minute drive to the Denver Zoo and Natural History museum.
I was in town for an event at the Convention Center, and I was able to drive there in 5 minutes.
My room was really nice. There was a cushy duvet on the king-sized bed, a table with 2 chairs, a desk and chair, and a rather comfy armchair. The bathroom was split, with a sitdown vanity outside from the shower/sink/toilet area.
The decor of the common areas is Western, with a lot of dark wood trim. The hotel is a little outdated, yes. But this is mostly in the corridors -- they could stand to put new carpet in. Not because it's worn, but because it's from the 80's. Also, the slow elevator really could be fixed. I found the back elevator (not the one int he lobby) to be much quicker.
There were full vending services, including snacks, and there was a washer and dryer -- and least on the 2nd floor where I stayed.
I got a room service hamburger from the hotel restaurant Kai, and it was probably the worst burger I've ever eaten. However, the side salad was actually extremely good and filling.
Also, I found the front desk staff to be very helpful. I had excessively noisy next-door neighbors, and the front desk took care of it. I never heard another peep from them
All in all, it was a decent place to sleep and to spend the evenings. I found the room really comfortable -- and isn't that the real point of a hotel stay?

There are some bad review here so I should add my good review. I stayed here for 3 days in December. The rooms were very clean and the location is very convenient. Everything about the hotel was significantly better than I would have expected given the bargain price. I would absolutely stay here again.

Pros: Free shuttle to downtown, cherry creek, etc., washing machine and dryer, Internet, bar, very clean
Cons: Some people complain about there area. It is Colfax and it has "character". Still, I used to live in Denver. It is a very safe area. If you don't like panhandlers, stay off the sidewalks in downtown Denver. Don't worry, they won't hurt you.

I had always heard good things about the Colfax Ramada. They were all true. This is definitely a nice place.
