I booked the Westin because of its good reputation. I am not picky but July 30th at the Westin Tabor Center was too much of a disaster to not report. Arrived at 3:00, room was not ready. We asked for an upgrade or just another room. They gave us an "accessable", smoking room - We booked a non-smoking - tobacco smell was faint and we were tired, so we settled. To the hotel's credit they gave us a $25 food coupon for in-room service. Noticed that the carpet needed vaccuming badly. Was going to swim in the pool, but the water was so murky you could barely see your feet so we nixed that idea.
Later that night pulled down the covers and noticed the duvet had fresh coffee or blood stains at the top of the cover by our face. In addition, the top sheet was torn. In the dimly lit bathroom there were ants by the toilet and the entire shower plumbing fixture where you switch from hot to cold swung freely a good 2"-3" in either direction from the wall.
On check out the clerk didn't ask "how was your stay". But I politely told her all the problems we encountered. All she could say was "Ewww - sorry". I asked for a discount and after talking to her manager she gave us $50. off.
Apparently the "accessable" room was not used as often and therefore not cleaned or serviced. Would have gladly paid full price to enjoy a great room for which the Westin is famous.
