I definitely wouldn't recommend the Radisson Stapleton if you're heading to Denver -- either on play or business. My stay for business has been very disappointing.
The location leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel looks onto neglected housing for several blocks to the back, complete with half-decomposed sofa in the street. Depressing view. Fronting onto a busy four lane main road, the front rooms are guaranteed to be very loud. The shopping centre just down the street is really just an enormous car park solely boasting a Wallmart, Pet shop, super cheap clothing store, tire place and low quality restaurants (McDonalds and a dodgy looking Chinese place) amongst other a few other pretty depressing tacky megastores. There is another very small street with stores a couple of blocks in the other direction (29th), with a cafe, restaurant & a bagel shop,. Much better than the Walmart end, but it's not all that inspiring. It is your best bet, though, if staying.
The hotel itself is very disappointing. My room was very dirty the first night I arrived, complete with cleaning rags still left around the room by the cleaning service. Phone didn't work and lightbulbs needed changing. My colleague was in a similar situation -- no cleaning rags, fortunately, but room dirty and in disrepair with a broken shower. Unfortunately my air conditioning doesn't work, pumping warm air into the room. My colleagues does, however she can't turn it down and the room is lke a freezer. For both rooms to be so poorly, my guess is that many if not all other rooms in the hotel will have similar problems and be of a similar quality. And the air conditioning is really loud, if you're sensitive to noise. I'm not, but even I had to turn mine off (not that there was much point having it on).
If the hotel reads this, go do something about rooms 901 and room 926.
The service from front desk staff is disappointing. Dead loss if you need any advice (which, unfortunately, I did). Dead loss if you's like a working phone. Keep your expectations well below average, and you'll be fine.
The Radisson has really let itself down with the Stapleton.
My advice, look for an alternative hotel closer to the centre. Or there's a double tree next door -- I don't know what the reviews on that one are like, but I'm not sure it could be much worse than the Radisson if you don't care about location.
