“OK, but Pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

This Marriott property is ok. I stayed for 5 nights while attending a conference. In reading other reviews, a few said price is reasonable. My rate averaged $300 per night (all in including taxes) so prices were likely jacked up due to the conference. That being said, after paying close to $1,800 for 5 nights, I expected a lot more, even as a Gold member with reasonable expectations. While it is in the "center" of town close to many restaurants, the rooms themselves could use a makeover. The furnishings, carpeting, facilities could use a "refresh" to use Marriott terminology. It actually smelled musty when I first got there, but that cleared after a few hours. While the room was not unclean, it was just tired and outdated. Room service as good and prompt. The bar area was fine, but on the very pricey side as well (2 mixed drinks and a martini were close to $40). There is a Starbuck's on site that is very convenient and a way to keep costs down. So, its not a bad place if you can get a deal, but if you are spending the money and expect good value, best to find another place.

First of all, thank you for your loyalty to Marriott! As a Gold member you stay in our hotels at least 50 nights per year so I want to thank you for your business. Its great customers like yourself that has led to the tremendous growth of our company over the last 10-15 years. Your feedback is appreciated and will be shared during our next operations meeting. Typically, the October timeframe is our busiest month of the year with many major conventions that draws tremendous demand for Downtown – hence the higher rates. We are pleased to hear our service met your needs and our location in Downtown Denver allowed you to easily access all the great attractions. We are excited about our upcoming lobby renovations so our guests can not only experience the same great service you did but also an updated look and feel. Those upgrades will be completed in the next month or so. Please come stay with us again!

Nice, clean and simple rooms. Geared nicely for a business trip, right downtown and close to everything downtown Denver has to offer. The lounge downstairs was convenient with a nice atmosphere and really good banana splits. The bartenders there were ready with great suggestions on where to eat and what to do in downtown Denver. Starbucks is on premises, which is nice. Walking distance from great restaurants, excellent bars and the 16th St mall. Good service.

Room Tip: Our room on the 9th floor was down the hall from the elevators, so pretty quiet but was a little dar...

Booked the hotel through tripadvisor in Denver, When we arrived there, we found that it's a very nice place to stay. The price is reasonable, we have a lot of fun, will recommend,
Guests have complimentary access to the hotel's 24-hour fitness center with sauna, which is connected to a large indoor pool with spa tub.
And the staff were excellent! We met many during our short overnight stay and everyone said hello with a smile, which was very nice. Front desk staff were very helpful and the welcome chocolate cookies wer to die for after a day of travelling.
Great stay -- everything was as we expected. The gym and indoor pool and hot tub were great!

Great location to the 16th Street Mall (free trolley up/down, lots of shops and restaurants).
Jason, the concierge, was great with the suggestions he gave us, as he listened and didn't just suggest the 'tourist' locales.

Had a corner room with a comfortable bed on the 8th floor. We had a street view.We rode the elevator to the top to possibly get a view of the mountains, but there are no windows available :(
Could still hear the bells in the morning, but not bothersome. It would be great if people didn't let their door slam closed, as you hear every one!
Perhaps more than 2 large bathtowels in the bathroom though? 2 p/p would be better than 1!
Did swim in the pool. Very clean and a tad cool.

The staff here works hard to make guests feel welcomed and the hotel's in good shape (at least, my rooms on both this stay and previous stays have always been nice). The front-desk staff recognize Marriott Rewards members and seem to give them the best room possible when they have a choice. The hotel has also done a nice job with some large-group meetings we've held here. It's downtown which, of course, can be good or bad depending on where you're going (traffic in/out of the city center) and what you want to do. The hotel's only a couple of blocks from the 16th Street pedestrian mall which has plenty of restaurant options both directions (it also has a free mall trolley you can take up and down the street). If you're so inclined, the Denver LoDo ("LOwer DOwntown") district is easy to reach, as well.

I base my reviews on what I would expect based on the hotel brand, price, and location. While this was certainly a nice hotel, I found the Denver Marriott City Center to be just average for a downtown Marriott property. I was in town for a conference at the Convention Center, and it was well located only a couple of blocks away, and just about a block from the 16th St. Mall and its various shops and restaurants. The room was large, but furnishings were pretty basic for a luxury-priced property. Internet was available for a fee, which I never understand- budget hotels are able to provide free wifi. The bathroom was a bit dated, but the water pressure in the shower was good. As per usual, we were relegated to the standard orange and ginger bath products (seriously, Marriott, did you buy these in bulk? It's been years). The walls were plenty thick, and I heard absolutely no noise from the hall or my neighbors, despite being just across from the vending machines.

The fitness and pool area were nice, with everything you'd need, but I was disappointed there was no hot tub- I could have used one after being on my feet at the conference all day, and the tub in the room left much to be desired. I was also surprised that there wasn't a hotel gift shop for sundries and snacks- just a convenience store in the adjacent office building. I had breakfast in the restaurant just one morning, but service was very good and my cold breakfast buffet with tea and juice was the same price as a coffee and bagel from Starbucks. I was also surprised there weren't more dining options in the hotel itself- just the one restaurant. Overall a fine stay, great service, but the hotel itself was not overly impressive.

nice hotel, can't beat location right in the heart of downtown.

hotel has internet for a fee (well below par for speed), and parking for a fee ($32 per day; ouch)

hotel has a nice pool and gym.

rooms are a little above regular marriott grade: decor, amenities, furnishings. My biggest gripe: no power plugs next on the night stand.

cudos for the platinum lounge; very nice. need new coffee machines, there's nothing worse than queing up for your turn to have a coffee.

would gladly return
