We had reservations for this hotel on a Saturday night through hotels.com. Apparently something went wrong with the booking because when we got to the hotel, they insisted that they were for Friday night and we had already been charged. The hotel manager was incredibly snooty and not at all accomodating. He and the other desk agent glared at my kids (3 and 6) while they colored in the chlorine sented seating area waiting for the situation to be fixed.
Eventually they sent us to a room to await a return call from hotels.com. The room was very, very worn and needed some real updating. Carpets were dirty and frayed, bedding stained, bathroom counter excessivley scratched and dented. The tub and shower curtain looked dirty as well. When they did call us they told us that we needed to call hotels.com and work it out. In the meantime they were going to charge us a rate 20% higher than the reservation rate. I felt that under the circumstances it would have been nothing for them to at least charge us the rate we had arranged through hotels.com. My husband told them absolutely not (by this point we knew that that the hotels.com rate was overpriced for the room and were not going to pay even higher).
When we went to the front desk to turn in the key the manager was just plain nasty to us. He said, "I tried to work this out for you. I found you a room!" To my right a man was arguing with another desk clerk about a note that they had assured him would be in his reservation. He gave the other clerks name etc., etc., but the agent simply continued to tell him "Well, it's not there." On our way out my husband commented to an employee how rude the manager was and he said, "You have no idea. That's why tomorrow is my last day here." Apparently our problems were not the only ones! Please go elsewhere with decent customer service! There are so many other hotels that are much better in the area!
