Stayed here for three nights and loved it! Spacious, comfortable rooms, hassle-free front desk check-in, an extremely accommodating and professional staff, and a decent on-site restaurant, although there are a slew of good restaurants nearby if you don't want hotel dining. The highlight of our stay, however, was the pianist in the lobby/lounge. I think his name was Mark and he was absolutely fabulous. He should be in LA!!! All in all, a very enjoyable stay. I'd definitely stay here again.

Won this hotel on a $75 Priceline bid. We stayed here on the culmination of a ski trip without the kids.

Pros - Very convenient to the 16th street mall. Appalloosa grill is only a block away. Very courteous staff. Live piano music in the bar/fireplace area was very relaxing and a nice touch. Very nice rooms with wonderful beds and large bathrooms with an incredibly large shower/bath combo. Nice views from the 26th floor.

Cons - Only one negative about the Hyatt... Parking. I'm too cheap to pay for valet, so I opted for the lot across the street. It was an unattended lot, and it was difficult to exit early on a Sunday morning.

If I'm ever in Denver, and I can grab another $75 room from Priceline, I will certainly re-visit this wonderful hotel.

A nice downtown hotel. Excellent and helpful service by the hotel staff. Desk agent/Concierge was knowledgeable on nearby restaurants. Rooms recently updated so it had a fresh clean look to things.

Underground garage so no snow or cold to worry about on the car. Starbucks nearby.

We've all been to Hyatt's. This one like the last one, although this one updated. I would return again to this Grand Hyatt if business brings me back to Denver.

The Hyatt's central location is the big plus here. My girlfriend and I spent a weekend shopping and the hotel was a good home base. We found a fantastic rate over Priceline.

My one gripe is door noise. I'd expect some sort of pneumatic action on the door to dampen noise, but there isn't any. Read that: the doors slam a lot. It's probably fine during the middle of the week, but on the weekend there were people coming and going and it was genuinely hard to fall asleep. For this reason and this reason only, I wouldn't stay here again. The other negatives are just quirks. Here's the rest of it...

The toiletries were great. Staff didn't replace them on day two, but when we called down for replacements and a synthetic pillow, they responded promptly. The bed was very cushy, too.

As you might expect with an upscale hotel, you'll have to pay for wireless or wired internet service, but it's there in abundance.

Parking is available both with valet ($20 a day, I believe) and self-parking ($5 day/night on the weekends). If you're out and about and won't get back in enough to use the valet, pass on it. UNLESS...it's a weekday, then you'd probably use it plenty or at least not lose any money on it.

As of December 2005, part of the lobby is under construction, so be prepared to brave some cool Denver air if you want to run next door to Starbuck's.

The service: Very good; the highlight of this hotel! We booked a room through Priceline. No mentioning of Priceline at check-in. We requested a non-smoking room on high floor with king bed. They gave us room 1519, which had a faint cigarette smell. Called the front desk, and they promptly gave us room 1725, a corner room. They even brought the keys for room 1725 to 1519 and handed them to us 3 minutes after our phone call. Front desk and Concierge were also very courteous and helpful with information on dining and attractions. They gave us all sorts of maps and even printed out detailed directions on specific restaurants we asked that were not located in downtown Denver.

The room: 1725 is a good-size corner room with a nice, unobstructed view of downtown looking northeast. The king bed is comfortable and stocked with 6 sleeping pillows and 4 decorative pillows. Nice, dark wood furniture (desk, drawers, TV case, etc.) and leather chairs and one ottoman. The large window has a wide inside ledge large enough for sitting and even lying down on. The only downside to the room is the bathroom, which is quite small.

The amenities: The hotel pool on the 4th floor is tiny and uninviting. The jacuzzi is next to the pool, but is outside and hidden behind a door. It, too, is not very attractive. We did not dine in 1876, the hotel restaurant.

The location: Nice! The Grant Hyatt is a block and half to 16th St. Pedestrian Mall, which has free shuttles running back and forth its entire length. The capitol, museums, and other attractions are within walking distance.

The restaurants: Lots of restaurants on or near the 16th Street Mall, although many of them were mostly empty of customers at dinner time (our visit spanned Sat, Sun, and Mon nights – Oct 29 – Nov 1, 2005). Sonoda’s (Japanese; Market St., LoDo) has fresh sushi, tempura, and appetizers at very good prices. Panzano was disappointing, with only 4 pasta dishes and ordinary food quality at inflated prices ($15 average price quoted on Tripadvisor is low; it’s more like $20+). Little India has delicious food in generous portions and at reasonable prices. Their chicken tikki marsala is excellent!

The car rental: We rented a car from Budget a block away from the hotel (19th and Broadway) on the last two days (Avis and Hertz are next to Budget). We parked it overnight in a “Central” parking lot next to the hotel, on Welton between 18th and 19th for $3 (4PM – 6AM) plus $7.50 for the entire next day (regular rate is $8 entire day, but $7.50 for early bird rate). Valet parking at the Grand Hyatt is $23 per day.

The bottom line: Overall, the Grand Hyatt is a nice hotel with very good service and in a convenient location in downtown Denver. At $75/night we paid through Priceline, it is a good value.
