The service: Very good; the highlight of this hotel! We booked a room through Priceline. No mentioning of Priceline at check-in. We requested a non-smoking room on high floor with king bed. They gave us room 1519, which had a faint cigarette smell. Called the front desk, and they promptly gave us room 1725, a corner room. They even brought the keys for room 1725 to 1519 and handed them to us 3 minutes after our phone call. Front desk and Concierge were also very courteous and helpful with information on dining and attractions. They gave us all sorts of maps and even printed out detailed directions on specific restaurants we asked that were not located in downtown Denver.

The room: 1725 is a good-size corner room with a nice, unobstructed view of downtown looking northeast. The king bed is comfortable and stocked with 6 sleeping pillows and 4 decorative pillows. Nice, dark wood furniture (desk, drawers, TV case, etc.) and leather chairs and one ottoman. The large window has a wide inside ledge large enough for sitting and even lying down on. The only downside to the room is the bathroom, which is quite small.

The amenities: The hotel pool on the 4th floor is tiny and uninviting. The jacuzzi is next to the pool, but is outside and hidden behind a door. It, too, is not very attractive. We did not dine in 1876, the hotel restaurant.

The location: Nice! The Grant Hyatt is a block and half to 16th St. Pedestrian Mall, which has free shuttles running back and forth its entire length. The capitol, museums, and other attractions are within walking distance.

The restaurants: Lots of restaurants on or near the 16th Street Mall, although many of them were mostly empty of customers at dinner time (our visit spanned Sat, Sun, and Mon nights – Oct 29 – Nov 1, 2005). Sonoda’s (Japanese; Market St., LoDo) has fresh sushi, tempura, and appetizers at very good prices. Panzano was disappointing, with only 4 pasta dishes and ordinary food quality at inflated prices ($15 average price quoted on Tripadvisor is low; it’s more like $20+). Little India has delicious food in generous portions and at reasonable prices. Their chicken tikki marsala is excellent!

The car rental: We rented a car from Budget a block away from the hotel (19th and Broadway) on the last two days (Avis and Hertz are next to Budget). We parked it overnight in a “Central” parking lot next to the hotel, on Welton between 18th and 19th for $3 (4PM – 6AM) plus $7.50 for the entire next day (regular rate is $8 entire day, but $7.50 for early bird rate). Valet parking at the Grand Hyatt is $23 per day.

The bottom line: Overall, the Grand Hyatt is a nice hotel with very good service and in a convenient location in downtown Denver. At $75/night we paid through Priceline, it is a good value.

I booked rooms for our family of 10 over Labor Day weekend. Even though the hotel was very busy I never felt neglected or as if the staff was overwhelmed. The Hotel was well kept and the rooms quite nice. I slept very well on their mattress which was divine. The concierge was accomodating. He made us reservations and offered coupons for a great restaurant on the Mall. Overall our experience was terrific for all 10 of us, no easy feat.

After the Westin called the night before our reservation to tell us that due to a "computer error" our reservation was lost, we ended up here and were very pleased. Large rooms, very comfortable beds, great breakfast buffet and really good coffee. We were on vacation with our elementary school age kids and this is more of a business hotel but we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the pool and rooftop track, there is also a tennis court. Great location near lots of attractions, restaurants and public transportation. A super concierge named Max Maxey recommended really good restaurants for us. The valet driving guys were quick to offer directions before we even asked. Expect to be one of just a few families surrounded by business and airline people. We will go back next time we visit Denver.

The best part about the Grant Hyatt Denver is its central location. Its about 8 blocks to the Lower Downtown (LoDo) restaurants and attractions and just one block from the 16th Street Mall and shopping. Unfortunately, the hotel just misses being a luxury hotel. The rooms are quite spacious, but we couldn't get the temperature in ours to stay consistent...first too hot, then too cold. The rooms are equipped with coffee service, although we had no caffeinated coffee packet or sweeteners. The bathrooms are equipped, but the hairdryer in ours didn't work and they didn't leave us enough wash cloths or hand towels. I think the previous guest had used our complimentary shampoo/lotion which grossed me out. I was glad I brough my own along. The front desk staff was gracious, but not fantastic. I've been treated better at Burger King. The valet parking is a problem. I am told that the parking garage is managed by a different company - but it certainly reflects badly on the Hyatt when it takes 20 minutes to get your car. I would probably choose to stay somewhere else next time.

My husband and I (mid-30s) spent 5 nights at this hotel in May 2005. Three of our nights were at an excellent weekend rate, while the other two were priced higher. We had a room on the 23rd floor, and noticed no noise or door slamming. (We had a view of the jogging track.) Overall, the hotel was above average. We used the fitness center and pool, ate in the restaurant for dinner one evening (limited menu, but attentive service and good food), and asked a lot of questions of the concierge, which were always answered politely and correctly. We would stay here again.
