I stayed at the Grand Hyatt to attend a conference. I had to call the Hyatt Reservation line in order to get the special conference rate ($199/night...good thing my company was paying the bill!). Reservation agent was friendly, the process was painless, and they emailed me a confirmation.
I used the SuperShuttle from the airport, purchasing a roundtrip ticket at the airport reservation desk for $34. It was really convenient, and in spite of arriving during the Denver rush hour, I was at the hotel in about half an hour.
All of the Hyatt staff that I encountered during my trip were very friendly, especially the check-in staff, porter and concierge. When I decided to stay over a couple of days at the end of my conference, the desk person was able to give me an internet rate I had found for the weekend.
The room was very tastefully decorated, spacious and clean. The bathroom looked like it had new fixtures, and there was a phone next to the toilet (if you need to be that accessible!). One thing that made the room special was the iHome clock radio...it has a dock where your iPod can be attached and played, and you can wake to music from your iPod.
The only disappointment was the inconsistency of housekeeping. Please don't misunderstand: the room was cleaned, bed made, and new towels left, but there was always something missed each day. One day, they didn't empty the trash, the next day they left a used towel draped over the toilet tank. One evening I filled out the room-service breakfast menu that you hang on the door, and a replacement was never left during the remainder of my stay. And I don't know if there's a term for it in the hotel industry, but I'm used to housekeeping coming in and opening the curtains and putting things back in place (sort of re-setting the stage, if you will), and this was never done. This lack of attention to detail, especially at the level of a Hyatt, stood out as a glaring error in an otherwise flawless stay.
Despite this issue, I would still recommend the Grand Hyatt Denver. Its friendly staff, its comfortable rooms, and its central location -- less than two blocks from the 16th Street Mall with shopping, dining and entertainment, and an easy walk to the Denver Art Museum and other downtown landmarks -- makes it an ideal place to stay in Denver.
