I recently stayed at the Denver Magnolia for a business meeting during late October. As mentioned in earlier reviews, the location is great. Since I was there for a meeting, I was busy during the day and didn’t have much time to explore the area. However, there were plentiful eating options for all price ranges – beginning right outside the door, to a few blocks either way. The area is well lit, and although there is a homeless presence, I never felt uncomfortable walking outside by myself or with a group.

This is an older refurbished building, so if you are looking for cookie-cutter rooms, you will be disappointed. There are definite quirks (I was on the end of the building & felt like there was a slight slope). I had a small, but adequate room (comfy bed, large windows, large bath). If you want space, request a suite. On the 3rd floor, I definitely heard street noise (including the trolley bell), especially early in the evening. If you’re a light sleeper you may want to be higher up or use earplugs.

The complementary breakfast gives plenty of choices: muffins, bagels, cereal, instant oatmeal, juice, fruit, cottage cheese, yogurts, etc. It does get crowded and some of the seating options include sofas and easy chairs. I found the coffee adequate, but there is a Starbucks right outside the door. There are coffee makers in the rooms (more if you get a suite).

There is also a happy hour with $1 draft beers and a billiard table in this “club” area. There’s also a flat-screen TV. It was a comfortable area to hang out in after the meetings and our group tended to take over the billiard table in the evenings. As soon as happy hour was over, they’d bring out the milk & cookies (from 8-10pm every night).

The staff was professional, friendly and very helpful. Once I was waiting to ask a question at the front desk while they were on the phone – so a doorman/valet came in to ask if he could help. We also had exceptional service in our meeting room.

My husband and I stayed at the Magnolia Hotel for the weekend of the Great American Beer Festival. We chose it in part for it's proximity to the Convention Center and the fact that it had public parking next door.

We had no problems checking in and found the staff, especially the doormen, to be extremely courteous. The hotel was very clean and spacious with a comfortable art deco feel. Our room, although a bit small, was very nicely furnished and had a wonderful king sized bed which included both down and synthetic pillows. The bathroom was large and included a large tub, rain style showerhead, and nice toiletries (including conditioner- a rareity!). The only complaint I have with the bathroom is that it did not have a fan.

The breakfast was adequate to good (the granola was yummy) and the milk and cookies were excellent and a nice way to end a hectic day.

We were 2 blocks away from the 16th street mall in a great location of town and within easy walking distance to everything. A friend stayed at the Adams Mark and did not have the amnenties we had.

I would highly recommend staying at the Magnolia for its convenience, perks, and decor of hotel.

At the end of a three week "voyage of delight" round Colorado we had three nights at The Magnolia. We had pre-booked on the strength of favourable reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel is brilliantly situated for 16th Street and within walking distance of all that LoDo has to offer. The rooms are a good size for a city centre hotel and the beds are superb. There is a well furnished gym and steam room, the continental breakfast is perfectly adequate (but a little repetitive) and the valet staff were fantastic - they would drive you anywhere in central Denver and pick you up when you wanted to return. This comes at no extra charge and makes visiting areas like Cherry Creek and its famous Mall (a must for keen shoppers) very easy.

We haven't experienced any other Denver hotels but they would have to be pretty good to beat this one as value for money.

  • Liked — Beds and Valet services
  • Disliked — Repetitive breakfast buffet
  • Tips/Secrets: — Take a day to go to Cherry Creek district, and not just the Mall

As an East coast travelers, my wife and I were not familiar with the Magnolia Hotels. We chose the hotel for its great deal of accomodations with a free drink at the hotel bar, dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy, milk and cookies at night, and continential breakfast. We were quite pleased with the hotel itself. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the decor/interior design of the hotel was quite attractive. We'd recommend the Magnolia to any travelers.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. We did not receive a proper greeting (no "Welcome", no "How are you", not even so much as a smile), they bluntly asked for our credit card and proceeded to ask short questions before handing over the key without ever making eye contact. The other girl working the desk, also helping a customer, rattled off almost too quick to even understand, the details of the hotel happy hour and milk and cookies? The girl helping my husband and I said, "do you need me to repeat what she said"? She was extremely unhelpful, we felt as if we were putting her out to have to do her job.
We came in late that night to someone at the front desk being extremely rude and again "put out" to have to come open the front doors for us. The next morning we went to breakfast and went back to our room on the 12th floor to find that both of our key cards had been deprogrammed. I headed back down to the front desk and asked what the problem was, her response was brief and suggested that I had added a night or changed my reservation. I told her no, we had booked 2 nights from the get go. She took my card, reprogrammed it and suggested I try pulling on the door while swiping the key. No apology for the inconvenience what so ever. It had been deprogrammed. The following morning, upon check-out, we asked for suggestions on where to have a nice breakfast. The man helping us didn't even know (??), and asked the girl next to him, who without looking up from her keyboard, rattled off walking directions to somewhere on 15th street, never even mentioning the name of the place, let alone any other option other than the ONE restaurant she suggested.
Needlesss to say, we felt the front desk was extremely unhelpful, unknowledgeable, immature, rude and inexperienced.
Also, the elevators INSIDE had old graffiti that had not been taken care of either.
