Jul 16, 2008 | Trip type: Business, Friends getaway

Just returned from a weekend stay at the Hotel Magnolia, and I really don't have much of anything negative to say. The hotel is very centrally located in downtown Denver, one block from the 16th Street Mall and within walking distance of LoDo. The rooms, while on the smaller side, are clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The toiletries were huge for hotel sized. The only negatives about the rooms were that the beds are rather firm (though the many different layers of covers were really comfy) and the TVs could use an upgrade. It's time to ditch the tubes for flat screens. The best part of this hotel by far, though, is all the added extras. They offer a complementary breakfast every morning, which has a huge selection, including many hot items (eggs, hash browns, sausages, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, fruit, coffee/tea, etc.). They also offer complementary beer and wine for an hour each evening and freshly-baked cookies every night (did not get to sample these, as we were never there during the cookie hour). The staff were polite and helpful. I left my BlackBerry in the airport shuttle and had to have it dropped back to the hotel. Rather than calling me from the front desk when it arrived, as I expected, they brought it straight up to my room. Nice touch. One thing that wasn't so great was that my friend gave them a shirt to dry clean, and when he went to retreive it the next day, they hadn't even sent it out yet. They compensated him with six free drink tickets for the hotel bar, and he wore a dirty shirt to the wedding we were attending. Overall, though, a great stay...at a great price (we only paid $109/night under the wedding block). Denver is an amazing city. Definitely worth a visit.

I have no complaints about this hotel. It was clean, chic, fun and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Best of all, it's downtown right in the middle of the action. I also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which was far from the usual danish and bagel assortment. I would definately stay here again!

  • Liked — The large comfy beds. No more scratchy sheets and hard matresses!
  • Disliked — The room was teeny tiny, but we didn't stay there much anyway...

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Magnolia in Denver. I chose to stay here because I love the Magnolia Hotel in Houston. The Magnolia in Denver is just as wonderful, if not even better! The service is incredibly friendly and timely.....the front desk, room service, valet parking....everyone was courteous and helpful. I had a 1 bedroom suite that was very clean and comfortable. The downtown location is perfect and there are lots of restaurants, shopping, bars, and clubs all within walking distance. There is absolutely nothing bad to say about this hotel. I highly recommend staying here!

Best place we stayed during our 2-week driving trip through the SW.

1) Free Internet
2) Free hot breakfast
3) Free happy hour
4) Free milk & hot, fresh, baked cookies 8pm!
5) Size of toiletry products was larger than most places

Room was very well cleaned - best tips we left for maids.
Size of room was very nice although an extra comfortable chair would have been nice but we didn't ask because our stay was for only 2 nights.

Hotel staff in general were all very pleasant, and great to be around.

We loved the hip-lounge area below the lobby with all the nooks for intimacy if you want for reading, talking, eating.

Our stay at the Magnolia was just what I expected. I have stayed at the Magnolia in Houston before, so had a good idea what to expect, and the Denver location did not disappoint. Given the quality of the facility (which is not luxurious, but certainly better than just about any other hotel at this price) and the great downtown location, you would normally expect to pay more. That's why I rate the Magnolia as "excellent." You can find a nicer, more luxurious hotel, but it will certainly be much more expensive. In my experience, the Magnolias are priced about the same as a Hampton Inn, but offer a much nicer experience for the money.

Great, friendly service, a clean room and generous breakfast buffet only add to the experience.
