Just returned from a weekend stay at the Hotel Magnolia, and I really don't have much of anything negative to say. The hotel is very centrally located in downtown Denver, one block from the 16th Street Mall and within walking distance of LoDo. The rooms, while on the smaller side, are clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The toiletries were huge for hotel sized. The only negatives about the rooms were that the beds are rather firm (though the many different layers of covers were really comfy) and the TVs could use an upgrade. It's time to ditch the tubes for flat screens. The best part of this hotel by far, though, is all the added extras. They offer a complementary breakfast every morning, which has a huge selection, including many hot items (eggs, hash browns, sausages, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, fruit, coffee/tea, etc.). They also offer complementary beer and wine for an hour each evening and freshly-baked cookies every night (did not get to sample these, as we were never there during the cookie hour). The staff were polite and helpful. I left my BlackBerry in the airport shuttle and had to have it dropped back to the hotel. Rather than calling me from the front desk when it arrived, as I expected, they brought it straight up to my room. Nice touch. One thing that wasn't so great was that my friend gave them a shirt to dry clean, and when he went to retreive it the next day, they hadn't even sent it out yet. They compensated him with six free drink tickets for the hotel bar, and he wore a dirty shirt to the wedding we were attending. Overall, though, a great stay...at a great price (we only paid $109/night under the wedding block). Denver is an amazing city. Definitely worth a visit.
