“Great Atmosphere and Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

We recently had a staycation at the Magnolia and loved the experience.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the room was great (even more so when you take into account the price) and the location is great!
The extra little perks (welcome happy hour, cookies and milk and breakfast) made the stay that much better.

Full disclosure: We didn't pay for our stay at the Magnolia, so we can't really speak to value.

We went to the Magnolia recently to spend the night with some friends who were visiting from out of town (separate rooms, of course). The location and parking were convenient and our room was minimally but tastefully decorated. We arrived at the tail end of the manager's happy hour, just enough time to grab a drink and catch up with our friends.

After an evening at Howl at the Moon and the Bluebird, we were happy to come back to a comfortable place to rest. The complimentary breakfast the next day was standard but completely adequate.

It's a very pretty hotel, looks like a great place for business gatherings in the lower level rooms.

Just stayed here this week. The beds were way too hard. Couldn't get comfy to sleep. No hypoallergenic pillows. Air handling units in each room--were NOISY-- For a boutique hotel the amenities in the rooms werent that great. Hipster attitude isnt something that really works here---This is Denver not NYC--The food was decent. The public areas, where the breakfast was served were in the basement--were noisy and often very crowded and HOT! OK, OK it was 98 this week in Denver, so this could have been stretching the system a bit.

We booked into The Magnolia for two nights at the start of our cowboy country tour, based on strong Tripadvisor reviews. We booked a king room, but on arrival were upgraded to a suite on the 12th floor, a plus, though the bedroom was really too small, with the bed pushed up against a window and no room to stand or fit in a bedside table. The room was clean and decently decorated, but we found that the staff were not very engaged with guests, maybe not enough of them. This was borne out by the fact that we returned from a day out late afternoon to find that the housekeeper had not been in as of 4pm. We called housekeeping, no reply, so called the front desk who made the excuse “we’ve been extremely busy”. Not good enough!

I have stayed in many of the downtown Denver Hotels and decided to give the Magnolia a try. good location, nice roomy, well appointed rooms, staff was accomodating but this hotel misses the mark on going the a step. everything was acceptable but not magnificent, however, does provide a good value. I would stay here again.

Was a beautiful venue for a best friend's wedding back in December. After driving hours in the snow, it was so nice to be met with a valet and friendly smiling faces, fresh baked cookies, and a warm fireplace. The room was enormous, with a large TV, living room, breakfast nook, round bathtub, and a couple of soft robes in the closet of the bedroom. There were several windows that provided natural light and stunning views. Their hot breakfast was delicious and fresh; as for the wedding, their ballroom provided waitstaff, a four course meal, and an open bar! It was conveniently located right up the street from downtown where we went ice skating! I definitely recommend this as your number 1 choice stay in Denver.

Room Tip: Spoil yourself and go for the suite, it is well worth the upgrade.

Let me start with the positives. If you are single or traveling as a couple, the Hotel Magnolia is likely an ideal choice. It has a trendy feel, a hot breakfast in the morning, a beer and wine reception in the early evening and a cookies and milk buffet at night. The concierge is knowledgeable and helpful. The Starbucks just outside of the hotel offers a 15% discount for guests. Traveling as a family of four, however, this hotel really fell flat for us. While the location was great and service friendly, the room was not ideal. The hotel has an odd, almost fishy smell when you enter. We thought it could be the water feature located on the lower level. Temperate control was inconsistent, either the room was too hot or too cold. When the air conditioner ran, it was very loud. The room was dark and cramped, not at all intended for a family. The room was clean enough, but there were smudges on the walls, likely from other travelers' luggage and the lamp between the beds was dirty and had a unsettling yellow stain on it. We really wanted to like this hotel but did not enjoy our stay.
