My company booked a week-long seminar at this hotel, along with perhaps 125 room nights and 300 meals for attendees. For all the money we spent, we were treated as if we were unimportant.
First, the seminar room provided was a small part of a huge convention floor. For 45 people, this was absurd. The acoustics were awful, the room was cold and noisy with industrial-strength heaters running continuously. The catering manager assured us there was no other room, even though we saw one or two perfectly acceptable meeting rooms that were never in use. We felt as if we were running classes in an airplane hangar.
For our awards dinner, we were relegated to the "atrium", which is an elegant-sounding name for a completely unacceptable location. The atrium was surrounded by a bar on one side, check-in on another, and the open restaurant on a third. Our five speakers competed with cheering from the bar, and lots of activity at check in and the restaurant. Again, we were told there was just no other place to hold this event; however, there were three private meeting spaces that were free the entire time and would have been ideal for the event.
My conclusion was that the catering manager just didn't want to have to set up any of these rooms a second time and preferred to lie to us about room availability.
After reading other posts about uncooperative employees, I can confirm that this lack of cooperation is systemic throughout the hotel.
