Let me begin by saying we arrived at The Curtis around 3:00, had only 1 day to see Denver and the fire alarm went off the minute we checked into our room. We immediately left the room and walked 14 floors to the lobby. As we were walking down, the housekeeping staff were walking up, and not looking at all concerned. After the fire department cleared the hotel and it was not a fire, we tried to take elevator back up, but it stopped before 14 and descended back down to the lobby. We then waited for the elevators to be "fixed". Finally a manager suggested we walk the 14 floors back up to our room, which we did in the hope of salvaging our Denver visit.
So, if I could erase the fire alarm fiasco and the chaos that ensued afterwards, I would give a nod to The Curtis. It is a funky hotel with lots of odd kitsch and fun memorabilia - a real fresh idea for a hotel. Our room was very clean, spacious with a nice big bathroom. There is a business center for those without laptops, and complimentary boarding pass printing (nice touch). The location is convenient to many downtown highlights. There are endless places to eat and grab a drink, an ice cream or a coffee.
