“Missing my tub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Tasteful decor, clean and well-maintained. Very good for conference attendees. Less suitable for families as there is no bathtub and no pool/spa, no free breakfast, limited counter space in the bathroom. A warm cookie at check-in was pleasant.

Hello IowaAvidReader!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience at the Curtis on Trip Advisor. We do offer tubs at the hotel, but not every room has one, so we would be happy to request that for you the next time you make it to Denver. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts; we look forward to another opportunity to host you!

Stay Happy!

I stayed 6 nights at this hotel in October 2013. The hotel is located near the Colorado Convention Center and near all the shops and restaurants of 16th Street Mall. Each floor has a theme. I stayed on the 5th floor, which was "the one hit wonders" floor. I was slightly apprehensive about this, because I thought the hotel would not be a "serious" hotel and that I'd find it all a little too much. I did not. The finishing touches of the decoration follow the theme, but that's it. The staff are very friendly, and they welcome you with a warm cookie. I chose one of the cheapest rooms available, but it was excellent nonetheless. The room was nicely decorated, modern, and clean. The bed was the best part of the room: it was extremely comfortable and I had excellent nights of sleep. I wish I had a bed like that at home! The bathroom was small, but clean and modern. There was only a shower, no bathtub. The WiFi was free.

I stayed 2 nights for work and really enjoyed my stay. The decor is unique, playful and welcoming. All the staff I encountered from the valet to the doormen to the front desk couldn't be nicer or friendlier. It was very clean and my bed was comfortable, and wifi is free. The hotel restaurant was also good. I would definitely stay here again.

The Curtis has it all! The Corner, a happening restaurant is just downstairs and has great eats for breakfast lunch and dinner. It was also hopping for cocktail hour and into the night. The Curtis has the perfect location for attending a show as it is adjacent to the theater district. Many of the staff congregated in the lobby greeting guests and making sure that everyone had what they needed. A standout employee is Annemarie Lombard who hailing from Austria adds a touch of European charm and grace to the place. Lombard made sure guests were happy and satisfied with their rooms and service. We even got delicious fresh cookies!

Room Tip: Higher rooms have great views!

The hotel, as many are in Downtown Denver is extremely overpriced. The service was fair but nothing to write home about and the rooms seem dated. I was woken up by construction in the adjoining room at 6 am and when I called to complain, they said "there is nothing we can do". I love Doubletree, but they failed on this one.

Hello BigKahuna141;
I am so sorry to hear about your less than stellar stay with us. The Curtis is going through a major transition and upgrade and it's unfortunate that you were affected negatively by this. We should always, always do something to help ease a burden like early morning noise and should never tell guests otherwise. Please know that we've shared your comments with the staff and will continue to train our associates to seek out the solutions...and give service that is worth writing home about.

All the best,

My stay was fantastic, love the layout of the hotel, very FUN! The Corner Office and it's staff Oh My Goodness!! - I need servers like that where I am :-) I enjoyed the "themed" floors - freaky!! It seems everywhere I walked I always being greeted with a smile and a warm hello. The cleanliness of this hotel is fantastic - the bathrooms and public areas are superb! Great job - Great Staff - GREAT Service!!

This hotel has one huge problem: the hallways in the guest room floors smell bad...like sewage. When I complained about this to the staff, they simply say, "It's an old hotel. Sorry." I have tried the place several times, but this is a recurrent problem, and it overshadows everything else: in general the people are friendly; the room service menu is "OK", but limited; location is good; workout room is above average. But the smell!
